The idol in the temple is said to have been installed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The most interesting part about this temple is the Yantra Chakra that is carved in the front of the idol. The Yantra Chakra is made of 9 triangles, 4 facing upwards and the remaining 5 facing downwards depicting power. This 1200-year-old temple is known for having 1.5 lakh diyas lit in the temple on an occasion as an offering to the Devi.
