Trip to Leh Ladakh through

2 /5

(Written on 05 Jun, 2017)

Dear All at Purple Travel & Vairocana Will like to give my feedback for the Leh Ladakh trip organized through you. I don't know if it will make a difference to you all but at least i will feel sati (Read More)sfied. We had moments of joy and distress during the trip. 1. My stay at Regal Camp in Pangong was a nightmare. There were 35 bikers and a gang of rowdy 40 - 50 men. They were drinking , shouting and making noise well past midnight. The caretaker kept our tent lights on till 11:40 pm (we were tired and trying to sleep since 9:30 pm) . Finally, when i went up and complained some of the rowdies abused me. The generator was only switched off past midnight and still the noisy merrymaking continued.  I  was very scared for our safety and those of my children who were in the adjacent tent. Not a single other family was there in the camp. Any group of these rowdies could have entred my tent and i still shudder to think of it. I and my wife could not sleep the whole night virtually . 2. The car given to us was an old Innova which had already done more than 2 lakh km. It had no AC or Warmer. At times we had to suffer heat and dust, while at other times we literally froze in the cold on our way back from Nubra Valley to Leh (as the journey took a nightmarish 15 hrs - from 9 am to midnight crossing Khardung La Pass at 10 pm). The driver was friendly but we could not be comfortable in a vehicle without AC or Warmer. This despite the fact that i had put in a prior request for a new good vehicle. 3. There was no oxygen cylinder in the car. At one point my wife was feeling really sick and we thought it could be less oxygen. But, despite assurance by Mr Tsering, we found that there was no Oxygen Cylinder in vehicle.  4. We wasted at least one extra day doing to and fro from Leh to Pangong and then Nubra . We could have saved at least one day in our itinerary if we would have gone from Pangong to Nubra Valley directly instead of coming to Leh. I was not aware that it was possible to do that. Then we could have spent last day in Leh at our ease.  We returned from Nubra Valley to Leh well past midnight on the immediate day before departure.  There was huge traffic jam at Khardung La pass. We were sick, tored and hungry. Could spend only few hours on last day in hotel Zen as we had to leave next morning for Airport at 7 am. Overall, it could have been much better organised and left me with a feeling of not getting worth for my money.  Thanks Dr Sumeet Shah
