Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati - Shillong
  • You will be picked up by our representative cum driver at the Airport/Railway Station and then drive directly to Shillong, the capital of the state of Meghalaya.
  • During your journey, you will stop by Umiam Lake, a stunning lake that is a popular tourist destination and can be found shortly before entering Shillong.
  • After reaching Shillong, check into your hotel. Later that if time allows, you can visit:
    • Don Bosco museum
    • Ward's Lake
    • Police Bazaar
  • Overnight stay at Shillong.
  • Transfer to Cherrapunji
  • On the way, visit Cathedral Church of Mary, Shillong Peak, Elephant Fall, Mawdok Valley View Point, Seven Sisters Waterfall and Mawsmai Cave
  • Overnight stay at Cherrapunji.
  • Double Decker Living Root Bridge: The double decker living root bridge is one-of-a-kind attraction of Meghalaya. The track to bridge is almost 3km long and 3500+ steps. It takes whole day, but worth seeing once. Not only is it a naturally built ecosystem of local flora but it also symbolizes the relationship and knowledge that the local people have over their region and the cultural significance that it holds for them. Under ideal conditions, a root bridge is thought to be able to persist for hundreds of years. We have to walk through 3500+ steps one way, cross two iron bridges to reach the double decker bridge by 11.15. It was a great experience. While returning, we took a small detour, saw the single living root bridge as well. One can go to blue lagoon, which is another 40 minutes further.

  • Morning post your breakfast, drive to visit the following beautiful destinations:
  • Dawki:It's a beautiful river and an excellent boating experience with pictures of crystal-clear waters. River Umngot, also known as the Dawki River, is the clearest bay in the Asian continent with crystal clear waters. The river water is the cleanest and most beautiful in the month of December.
  • Mawlyonng:A picturesque village located in East Khasi Hills along the India - Bangladesh border. Declared as the cleanest village in Asia by Discover India magazine in 2003, the modestly existing Mawlyonng has alternatively been known as 'God's own garden' to go for a short trek of the village and see the Khasi way of life and meet the locals. You can visit Balancing Rock, Sky Walk, Bangladesh View point and the longest Living Root Bridge.
  • In the evening back to Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong.
  • Morning Post breakfast, drive with our driver cum representative towards Guwahati.
  • After reaching Guwahati, if time allows, you can visit below mentioned destinations:
    • Maa Kamakhya Temple
    • Umananda Temple

The driver Britu Das was extremely friendly and made our journey smooth and enjoyable. Special thanks to Mr. Ujjal and Mr. Amit, who coordinated everything so well. They were always available and supportive, and even when we requested last-minute changes to our itinerary, they accommodated us without any hassle. They went above and beyond to give us the best possible experience and ensured we covered most of the key attractions. The itinerary was thoughtfully designed and executed as planned. The hotels arranged by Safar Panda were top-notch — clean, comfortable, and located in great areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the food provided, especially the breakfast, which was always delicious and well-prepared to ensure we started our days right. Overall, the entire experience was more than worth the amount we paid.
