Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Auckland
- On arrival, seat in coach guests will be met and privately transferred to the hotel.
- Self-drive guests will collect a rental car and drive to the hotel.
- After check-in at the hotel, spend your time at leisure if time permits.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2 Auckland - Waitomo - Matamata – Rotorua
- After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed south through the Waikato region to arrive at Waitomo for a guided tour of the glowworm caves with their weird and wonderful limestone formations.
- Enjoy a magical boat ride under thousands of twinkling glowworms.
- Afterwards, continue to Rotorua while stopping at the Hobbiton Movie Set for a fun guided tour of this famous movie set.
- In Rotorua, check-in at the hotel.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 Sightseeing & Fun in Rotorua
- After breakfast, proceed to Te Puia Thermal Reserve where you can witness dramatic geysers, and bubbling mud pools and watch and interact with traditional Maori craftsmen.
- Next, head for an hourly Agrodome Farm Show where you can watch large herds of sheep and observe their daily life.
- If time permits, spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 4 Rotorua – Lake Taupo - Wellington
- After breakfast, check out and travel from Rotorua to the Lake Taupo region.
- On the way, you can stop and indulge in various hikes to waterfalls and geysers.
- Once at the lake, enjoy the spectacular panoramic views and you can choose from several activities - river jet ride, parasailing, hiking trail tours, and kayaking to name a few. (Activities are optional and at extra cost)
- Later head further south through the Central Plateau to reach Wellington.
- Check in to the hotel.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5 Sightseeing in Wellington
- After breakfast, enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Wellington (seat in coach guests only).
- Visit Te Papa, ‘Museum of New Zealand’ for a short guided tour (both seat in coach and self drive guests) before enjoying a free afternoon.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 6 Wellington – Christchurch
- After breakfast, check out and journey across Cook Strait and into the Marlborough Sounds with its sparkling clear waters and lush forests, before arriving in Picton.
- Travel south through Blenheim and Kaikoura to reach Christchurch.
- Check in to your hotel.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7 Christchurch – Dunedin
- After breakfast, check out and travel south across the Canterbury Plains to reach the Scottish and Maori-influenced city of Dunedin, renowned for the local wildlife and Otago University.
- At Dunedin, we recommend exploring the Otago peninsula region where you spot a variety of wildlife. Popular sightings include penguins, fur lions and seals.
- Also, Dunedin has beautiful beaches and amazing surfing and swimming spots as well. St Clairs beach is a fantastic surfing spot, while Aramoana, Karitane and Brighton beach.
- If you fancy some cycling and hiking, Dunedin has plenty to offer as well. City cycling and mountain cycling trails and even hiking trails can offer some breathtaking experiences.

Day 8 Dunedin – Queenstown
- After breakfast, the morning is free at your leisure.
- Check out and depart Dunedin in the afternoon, and travel inland through Central Otago towns to arrive in Queenstown in the early evening.

Day 9 Sightseeing and Adventure in Queenstown
- After breakfast, spend the day exploring several optional attractions and activities.
- Queenstown offers activities such as bungy jumping, jetboating, white water rafting, gondola rides and much more.(Optional activities not included in the tour price)
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 10 Queenstown - Glacier Region
- After an early breakfast, check out and depart Queenstown and travel via Lake Wanaka and through the historic Haast Pass, gateway to the World Heritage Westland National Park, up the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers.
- For Self Drive clients, entry to the Glacier Hot Pools (Franz Josef) is included.
- Here enjoy a snowy hike to the valley and enjoy mesmerising views from the top of the valley.
- You can also enjoy optional activities such as ice climbing if time permits.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 11 Glacier Region - Greymouth – Christchurch
- After breakfast, travel north to Greymouth and board the world famous Tranz Alpine train (seat in coach guests only).
- Ascend through lush beech forests past the alpine village of Arthur’s Pass before crossing the spectacular Southern Alps.
- Then travel over Canterbury Plains to Christchurch.
- Check in to the hotel.
- Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 12 Departure
- After breakfast, check out and get transferred to the airport (SIC customers only)
- Self-drive customers will drive themselves to the airport and drop off their rental car.
- Board your flight for your return journey.
