Day 1: Arusha to Big Tree Camp
  • Depart from Arusha at 7:00 am and transfer to Lemosho gate.
  • Trek through the lush Lemosho glades to reach Big Tree Camp.
  • Cover a distance of 7km (4.3 miles) in approximately 4 hours.
  • Enjoy dinner at Big Tree Camp and spend the night there.
  • After breakfast, begin the trek from Big Tree Camp to Shira 2 Camp.
  • Traverse a plateau of grassy moorland and volcanic rock formations.
  • Cover a distance of 16.5km (10.3 miles) in approximately 9-11 hours.
  • Enjoy panoramic views of Kibo peak and the Northern Ice fields.
  • Arrive at Shira 2 Camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
  • Start the day with breakfast before embarking on the trek from Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp.

  • Optionally, take a mid-afternoon acclimatization hike up to about 4200m.
  • Cover a distance of 5.5km (3.4 miles) in approximately 5 hours.
  • Have dinner and rest at Karanga Camp.
  • After breakfast, start a tough climb to Barafu Camp at 4640m altitude.
  • Traverse rocky slopes with no plants, making the climb steep and hard due to the high altitude.
  • Reach Barafu Camp and take it easy in the afternoon to prepare for the climb ahead.
  • Keep hydrated and warm for the summit climb.
  • Have dinner early and try to rest before the midnight summit attempt.
  • Cover about 3km (1.9 miles) in roughly 3 hours.
  • Stay overnight at Barafu Camp.
  • Start the climb to Uhuru Peak around midnight, lasting about 4 to 5 hours.
  • Ascend steep scree slopes quickly, enjoying stunning views along the way.
  • Witness the sunrise at Stella Point (5739m) before reaching Uhuru Peak (5895m) in about an hour.
  • Descend back to Barafu Camp for breakfast, then continue down to Millennium Camp.
