Intressant pour une ou deux nuits, mais pas plus.

It is interesting to stay in this hotel for one or two nights and to appreciate the architecture of an old Zanzibari Indian commercial mansion. To stay, like I did, for 5 nights, is a mistake. There is no management present to control the staff. Hence you will have to cope with their loud voice conversations and noises of all sorts, their excess of familiarity with clients and you might even find, as I did, the cleaning lady telephoning while watching (every day) television in your room. The restoration of the building, certainly difficult, was poorly made and this is a pity. Humidity infiltrates everywhere in walls and aesthetically the final result is quite poor. The management is said to be Italian but, I repeat, was completely absent during my whole stay. This probably contributed to my overall very mitigated experience.

Good old building, interesting decoration but not feeling safe sleeping there.

Building that has 120 years history

Quite dark in the room, the bathroom is a bit old and the bathtub was with white stain There was some noise during the night, we woke up several times to check if the doors and windows are kept locked. The weird thing is that with the locked window and door, both of our electric toothbrushes fell down with no reason. Not sure if its because of rats? Or anything else. The restaurant downstairs is a bit over priced, food was average.

Friendly staff. Boutique hotel with great character. The family room is absolutely perfect for those travelling with children. That was what lured me to this hotel in the first place and it lived up to expectations.

A beautiful hotel with fantastic staff!

I travel a lot and stay in many beautiful places but the Zanzibar Palace hotel is exceptional on every level. The rooms are gorgeous (I stayed in Sultana with a balcony and big bathtub), the staff are incredibly helpful, the food is delicious (I absolutely adored the passion and avocado juice and drank a lot of it!). The location is also exceptionalin the heart of Stone Town just 5 mins walk from the sea and 30 mins drive from the airport. Normally when I go to places again I like to try somewhere different but I will 100% be returning to this place! Thank you to Daniela and her brilliant team
