Vincci Soho Hotel was an excellent choice for our first ever visit to Madrid!
Location, room size, bathroom size with countertop room, breakfast, staff very cordial and helpful, price vs room was an excellent bargain. Christmas decorations were nice, lemon water was available thru a dispenser in the lobby.
not enough coffee in rooms (decaf and reg) although each day our maid service responded to our request for more, dark hallways a bit dreary, black tile in bathroom makes small items difficult to see/find in the bathroom. Didn't like the glass door in the bathroom because it was heavy and difficult to fully open.

Great location, walkable distance from Atocha, close to everything. There is a nice lobby in this hotel. The room was well heated.
They demand a deposit of 150 eur even if it is not mentioned anywhere in the booking terms. Since I paid upon arrival, they tried to charge the deposit from my card when I was in front of the reception ready to pay; when I objected they couldnt find any mention of the deposit in the booking terms but still insisted that we need a guarantee as if guests are villains intending to damage their hotel. It is not a problem to leave the deposit, but it must be communicated transparently and in a respectful way.
The room is quite small.
11 eur for a glass of mediocre wine which I took by myself from the bar to my room is a rip off.

Very close to the center, but lacks better staff and some room improvement
The location is very close to the city center.
The isolation between rooms is horrible. You can hear most of the neighbor conversation. Also the wc door makes a lot of noise when opening/closing, makes it audible from other rooms. The rooms door makes a little noise of noise when closing, a strong impact that you can hear when other people arrive to their rooms.
The staff at the breakfast are a bit rude and not available to provide you with anything you might need.

The photos here do not do the hotel justice. Its absolutely stunning in every respect. I loved the decor! I loved how comfortable it is. The staff are PHENOMENAL - just SO kind and wonderful! Really I loved everything about this superb hotel!
Only that the huge glass screen on the bath makes running a bath a bit tricky and theres not quite enough room for getting in and out of the bath properly and Im tiny! Also the bath gel etc containers on the wall are a bit hard to access if youre in the bath so they need to provide hard soap too! Minor things though in a totally fantastic hotel experience!

Fine selection for the breakfast buffet, quiet rooms, very central with easy walking through the city center, ca. 400m to metro station, many restaurants and tapas bars, a Chinese takeaway next to the metro station was helpful for a small evening meal in the room, the city center was really exciting and alive in the days after Christmas.
Tiny details. In bathroom, shower screen gave a puddle on the floor, tissue holder fell apart. In room, tea-making facility with jug would be nice, although questionable since the city water is chlorinated. A clear list of minibar prices on the door of the chiller would have been nice. Room door tended to slam loudly.

We only had a short stay but when next in Madrid will stay here again and would highly recommend.
The breakfast was perfect and location was excellent. Very close to Santa Ana plaza with lots of bars and restaurants so although in a large city had a very small town feel with the excellent choice locally.
Also room was very quiet with no city noise. Close to the Atocha train station and also close to sight seeing bus stop.
