The Vanguard York - Private Residence is a great find in a quiet residential area, only a short walk to the city gate. The optional off-road parking is convenient. Booking and communication were easy (Read More), with friendly owners. The spotless room was comfortable with a great shower. Guests enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and would highly recommend this venue for a visit to York.

Christmas market trip with friends

Excellent property. Looks very unassuming from outside. Well presented, good facilities including tea, coffee and bathroom sundries. Very helpful staff who let us leave our bags pre check in and post check out. Only about a 20 minute walk into heart of York. Would definitely recommend and stay again

Clean, comfortable & great value

Great location close to the centre, great price. the room was spotless very comfortable, loads of space and a massive open shower which was perfect after being out minus 1 York weather all day. owners were very helpful plenty of communication can't fault our stay at all

Staff were helpful and informative. Self check in/out was easy. The room was clean and comfortable. Excellent shower.

The carpet underlay made a crinkly sound when walking on it - slightly odd! The listing says there is soundproofing but we found that, while the area was generally quiet, sounds from inside and outside do travel.

Excellent location. Very well organised and secure. Parking arrangements worked well and in a busy area that was a concern before we arrived.

For a private residence very over priced. Towels were very poor quality, the TV didn't work and the room was ok. For that level of pricing we were expecting something better and will not be booking again.
