Stressful until we got new room offered and then frustrated with lack of communication around having to book into restau

Location was great and the reception staff were amazing.

When we checked in we were told the room was ready. It was not. Then they tried to get it ready but we had to wait 4 hours. We then got upstairs and the room was redone but there were loads of flies in the bathroom. Got told we couldnt eat in the hotel restaurant as we had to book but we werent made aware we had to book into the restaurant on check in. Second room was lovely but lift didnt work to the hotel room.

Reception desk looked amazing. Sweeping staircases and spotless reception area.

Breakfast hadnt offered the choice we wouldve liked.

Room dirty and tea and coffee used from previous guest. Lifts not working anywhere in hotel. Had to complain as Xmas parties carried on until 5am. Staff said they would rectify issues and then Didnt bother

Superb

Greeted by lovely staff on reception, and the hotel was full of lovely history and decor. It was stunning! The room was lovely and very comfy. Also, across the street from the train station, so super handy for travel (and no noise!). I'm already looking to stay again!

We didn't have a remote for the TV - no big deal, but it would have been nice for some background noise. I'm sure we could have asked and got one with no problems, but it's just the only tiny thing I could think to put in this section, haha!

Amazing building

Amazing Victorian hotel, huge staircase. New bathrooms and comfortable beds.

When we arrived, our booking wasn't in the system. We were told they'd have to make up a room with spare bed for our son, which would take 30 mins. We came back 5 hours later, at 7.30pm. Still no bed made up. Spoke to reception, asked them to make bed up - nothing for the next 30 mins. Asked again, then finally someone came round to make up the bed.

Good but room for improvement.

The hotel is beautiful with some lovely classic features. The staff we spoke to whilst there were friendly and helpful. Pillows were nice. Crisps in the room were a nice touch but could have done with biscuits instead. View from the room was nice and the amenities at the hotel looked nice (restaurant, garden, bar) Location is fab. 20 mins walk into Chester, parking is additional 12 for 24 hrs though. Its right next to Chester Station. There is a pub across the road for food/breakfast

The "super king" we paid for was two beds pushed together with a duvet zipped together. We could feel the join in the bed and the zipper in the duvet. The bathroom was a bit worse for wear, bath was stained brown at the bottom and the hinges on the toilet seat were disintegrating. I also left some new trainers I bought myself in the room and communicating with the hotel to find these and arrange a courier was quite difficult at times and they wouldn't return my calls.
