Disappointing

Lovely area

Couldn't eat in hotel when we arrived as said they were booked only wanted to eat in bar we we were told plenty of places to eat in high street but it was blowing a gale and raining didn't really want to but we were not given a choice. Toilets backing up but was sorted straight away. Reception staff not great to be honest quite cold . Quite expensive for service we received

Disappointing

This stay was a treat to myself between Christmas and New Year as things have been tough.

The staff behind the bar and the 'male' receptionist were welcoming and polite. The decor of the Hotel was well thought out and pleasing just a bit disappointing that the fire I imagined sitting by in the lounge whilst I read a book was not lit and a wedding was being loudly discussed with a client which was intrusive.

I was a lone traveller but had paid for a deluxe double room. Couples using this room would probably not notice but when I went to sleep in the middle of the bed I found that it was in fact two single beds joined together with a zip up mattress cover bridging the inch gap. This caused discomfort and so I had to sleep on one side of the bed. I chose this room for the double bed I could easily have had a cheaper twin room if I was only to sleep on a single bed. On entering the hotel the female receptionist told me immediately that she was "a neewbie" and that "he, thinks I'm common" I dont know who "he" is! She then said that she was glad I'd booked in online as it was boring filling in the details. She then said she had to take my card details as some man had ran off without paying which she got blamed for but it wasnt her fault. I did not want to know any of this. She confirmed for me what her colleague clearly thought that she was if not common but had absolutely no idea what customer service was and she ruined my experience right there! She told me I had a meal booked in The Orangery which she said was really a conservatory. The meal in the conservatory was disgusting and I did not eat it, something I have NEVER done.

Disappointing

The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Our room was very disappointing. The noise from the air conditioning unit ( or heating system Im not sure which) made it difficult to sleep. It was too hot and we couldnt open the window because of the noise.

Pleasant

Very pleasant and comfortable.

Breakfast was very good. The hotel was cozy and comfortable. The car park at the rear of the hotel was very handy and there was a pleasant walk through the gardens to the hotel.

Tea/Coffee arrangement in the rooms could be more conventional.

Superb

All staffs are good, I would like to particularly thanks Meri working at reception, she is knowledgeable and warm hearted giving me very helpful travel guide and informations. Because of her recommendation, I fully enjoyed my journey in Morton-In-Marsh, Burton in the Water and Stow on the Wold. In addition, she also introduced the history of the hotel to me, it has a history with charming features. Good choice to stay there.
