Very good

Well worth the night away

Breakfast and dinner was lovely. Bedroom warm and clean with big bathroom. Lovely characteristics of the hotel.

There was no windows in our bedroom and couldn't open the curtains as too exposed due to French doors. But that was the nature of the room.

Below expectations, hotel seems to be relying on reputation rather than delivering good service.

Good quality breakfast. Big comfortable bed and quiet room

Staff at check in and breakfast not up to the welcoming standards you would expect. We weren't asked if we had visited before at check in, so I made a point of mentioning we hadn't yet we still weren't told where anything in the hotel was. The girl showing everyone to their tables at breakfast unfortunately didn't seem to smile at anyone, looked a bit miserable. Wanted a shower before checking out, no hot water. Rung reception but no answer, kept trying but eventually ran out of time and had to check out. The new bar area feels bland especially at Christmas time.

Beautiful location

Had to wait 10 minutes to get a drink at the bar as only one bar man. When my husband got to the front to be served was asked to wait because barman wanted to make hot chocolate for other customers. Totally need more staff behind bar. Also husband waited 10 minutes at breakfast to get a cup of coffee for us both. Why can you not provide table service for hot drinks

Average.

Lovely location. Bar area was lovely and breakfast was great. The restaurant manager for breakfast was excellent. Really helpful and professional.

There was not enough seating at the bar. We had to stand to have our drinks. The ceiling lights in the bedroom did not work and the glass shades were thick with dust. The plastic plant in the room was also filthy.

No allowances for disability , but otherwise a charming hotel with great staff

Lovely room Staff were great

No disabled access ie lift to rooms . I may have missed this on your website but my husband has limited mobility and found accessing our room v difficult . Indeed the lack of accessibility meant he was reticent to leave the room once we were in The carpet !!! I have a slight visual impairment and the horizontal stripes on the stairs was disorienting. Perhaps some indication of where the step finished would be helpful Our deal included breakfast , and indeed after booking in were booked a time, but we were not on the breakfast list . Hover the hostess was absolutely charming and arrandmged a table for us

A wonderful festive experience, which well remember for a long time.

We booked the Christmas package, and although not cheap as such, we found it good value. The food was all exceptional, the staff were lovely. And we loved our room (superior double). All wonderful and were hoping to book for Christmas 2024!

The check in experience. Sadly all guests turned up at 3pm, so reception was overwhelmed by it all. This was just bad luck, and bad timing, though. And reception staff did call up to our room a little later to check that all was well. Also confusion with the bill. We initially booked through booking.com, then upgraded to Christmas package. We received constant reminders at every stage regarding balance still owed although we were fully paid up. A little irritating.

Stunning boutique hotel, service needs improvement

Fabulous bedlinen, super comfortable bed. Beautiful bathroom

I booked breakfast for 10am, I was not told that this was a hard stop for cooked breakfast. I arrived for breakfast at 10.10am, and was informed in no uncertain terms that it was too late for cooked breakfast, and that I could only have a continental buffet. Given the incredible selection of Artisan cafes in Rye, the buffet was very poor and unimaginative. 15 minutes later, the table for two who had already been seated were served their cooked breakfast. Clearly they must have made the deadline. Incredibly inflexible for such and an upmarket hotel! Beautiful place but service very average. I also asked for help with my luggage. The girl behind reception did not look happy about it. I told her that I am having a hip replacement in 2 weeks and she then capitulated and carried it up a very steep flight of stairs, which made me feel guilty!

Exceptional

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure our stay was successful and pleasant. The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and we received great recommendations for things to do in Rye. We absolutely loved our stay at The George!
