The Dunes Hotel in Lancaster offers excellent service, delicious breakfast, and comfortable rooms. The staff are helpful and accommodating, and the larger rooms are amazing. The hotel's history is re (Read More)flected in interesting facts throughout. The only drawback is the parking situation. The hotel is centrally located but some roads are steep. The bar is lively, with a good selection of ales and attentive staff. Overall, a highly recommended and charming place to stay in Lancaster.

Pleasant

Breakfast was nice, food in the restaurant in the evening was good. Hotel was nicely decorated and clean. Nice touch that dog biscuits were left on the table for breakfast.

On arrival we were told we needed to pay for our room despite already paying. This was sorted however. Rooms are clean and relatively updated but old beds had been covered to appear more modern, mattress was very firm. Pillows were a bit limp. Restaurant staff in the evening appeared a little grumpy which put a dampner on our evening meal.

Reception opens at 7am which caused problems for early checkout. System should be developed to solve this.

Very good

The staff were friendly & the restaurant was lovely. The room was comfortable & quiet location.

The breakfast was very disorganised, had to ask for various items Inc fruit juice & coffee (empty jugs). The tables which had been used were not straightened for other guests to use. It was difficult to find a table that was set for 2 to have breakfast that had everything set on it.

Lovely hotel. Very enjoyable

The coffee machine was broken so I was given two coffees free. Loved the chunky chips! The room was small but cosy and cute. Loved the decor in the downstairs areas.

The staff asked several times if we were ready to order food and I would rather they didnt ask so we felt we could order in our own time

Dunes went out of the way for our anniversary. They added extras to our room which were amazing. Rose petals,balloons, card and a box of chocolate. It absolutely made our day and made it feel so much more special. Great room with a bath and views out the front of the hotel.

Service in the restaurant was slow. This isn't the first time we have experienced this. Understandably, it was a busy time we ate but nearly an hour for our mains. Then we had a barking dog 3 doors down who barked constantly for hours quite late at night. Told the guy at the counter of the restaurant but then had to come back down over an hour later to report it again as it was still barking.

A gorgeous hotel with friendly staff and amazing food!

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the South Lakes and is close enough to activities (for example, it's a 7 minute drive to the safari zoo). It was easy to find and was just far enough out to be very peaceful. The hotel was beautiful and so clean. The staff were all super cheerful and helpful. The food was also amazing both at dinner and breakfast. We'll definitely be returning!
