I love the location in Spanish town and close to the capital and a nice short drive to Tiger Stadium. After the football game, it was very easy to go down River Road and bypass all of the traffic waiting to get onto the interstate. (Hint- stay in left lane on River Road during contra-flow.)
We arrived for our stay a little early; our suite on the first floor was ready. The house is absolutely beautiful, and it is tastefully decorated with antiques. The entire property is very clean and well-maintained. Theres parking on the street right in front of the house, and although the property is near 110, it is quiet and peaceful there.
Our first floor suite was located off the living room- and we had a separate nice sitting room with chairs to use while watching television or relaxing. The bathroom is a small but functional space that had some toiletries available if we had needed anything. The shower had great pressure and the water got nice and hot as we like it. The suites sitting room has a door into the bedroom which contained a beautiful bed that had gorgeous and luxurious bedding.
We met Michael, the owner, shortly after checking in (check in instructions were thorough and communicated through the booking app as well as by text message.) Michael verified our breakfast time for the next morning as we chatted. He and his wife, Nicole, made our stay feel like we were visiting friends. They are terrific hosts!
When we awoke the following (Sunday) morning, the house was quiet and there was not a sound from the street.
I went to the dining room to make our (K-cup) coffee and shortly after- Nicole started serving breakfast. We first had yogurt with granola and fresh berries and then she served scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits, and bacon. It was a great breakfast- and more than I could eat!
We had a nice conversation with the owners and we checked out soon afterwards.
Getting to I-10 from this location was easy and quick.
