Nice hotel in great location but rooms are tired / dated

The location is great and the staff are all friendly. Also liked the live music in the morning and evenings in the lobby

The room was tired and some furniture was stained. Felt a bit unloved. The mini fridge leaked water all over the floor and the room smelt foisty/ damp. For the price paid, I would expect a lot better. Wouldnt recommend as I felt it was poor value for money.

Disappointing, not great value-for-money

Disappointing and not great value-for-money While I understand peak-season pricing and recognize the role that the awesome location plays, I would expect MUCH more polish / a bit of class for the 5-star rating and the price. In point of fact, the rooms while charming were a little worn, fixtures dated, and personnel unevenly or poorly deployed and it felt a little like the hotel was struggling to find a niche somewhere between hip/young/modern and polished upper class with charm and character. I dont see it having accomplished either: a.] There were some misses in service (food/drinks brought to the table unevenly, for example its hard to toast drinks if one cocktail comes 15-20 min later than the other one; b.] there was hip jazz music in the lobby but at consistently painfully loud volumes; c.] my bathroom was dated with shower fixtures that came off in my hand while others were caked in calcium deposits; and d.] I still struggle with a 5-star hotel charging top dollar for any breakfast, let alone on that is not really abundant or fairly limited in choice. Unfortunately, I doubt anything will come of this feedback: I suspect the location, which translates into a steady stream of customers, will make it less likely for hotel management to address these issues. I feel confident in making that contention because nobody responded to the feedback (two out of five rating) I gave to their automated quality control SMSs and I did not get feedback to a question I asked before my arrival. Lets see how the competition and their customer demographics evolve. Good luck, but my two cents are to look elsewhere for style and class.

Good

Loved the charm and the history of The Betsy.

Loved the location of this hotel. Enjoyed hanging out in the lobby bar listening to the piano and sitting outside at the restaurant. The staff was wonderful. This is an older hotel with lots of charm.

Our room was very clean and comfortable, just a little small.

Very noisy and could not rest for the amount of money spent to secure reservations! Every morning LOUD trash trucks slamming lids and loud people talking constantly. Started 8-8:30am daily.

Superb

Fabulous Festive Fun.

Fun, friendly, festive hotel. Lovely piano bar. Overall we had a wonderful Christmas at The Betsy.

Pillows seem better days. Couldnt open windows, room smelt little damp. Pool roof top bar little tired, cocktails not worth the high price.

Rooms were noisy from the road and air conditioning systems Its a bit of a maze to get around and find your way to your room Rooms vary in quality. We asked to move rooms and for the same category - it was a drastically bigger, brighter and less noisy Food was average and overpriced Room service came in cardboard boxes with plastic cutlery

Very good

A very mixed experience. Wont come back.

The location was great and the public spaces were really nice. The cookery in the main restaurant was sensational tho the prices were sky-high.

Too expensive balcony room looked out onto the inner well of the property. So no view worth sitting out for. The layout of the place was also deranged if youre staying on the second floor, you cant reach it directly from the lobby. You have to walk outside to another door, go up to the third floor, walk along a maze of corridors to another lift, go down to the second floor and then find your way through another maze to your room. How could anyone ever have thought that was an acceptable way to treat guests paying hundreds of dollars a night?
