Wonderful hotel with excellent staff and would happily stay there again in future.

The staff were incredibly helpful, professional and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is a beautiful building and was in an easy to find and handy location for us.

Not sure they could have improved on anything. Wonderful place with wonderful staff.

A tale of two halfs

The Castle Hotel was beautiful, it was decorated lovely for Christmas and the staff were very welcoming. We had a meal in the evening of the first night which was lovely. Staff were friendly and made us feel at home. The first morning we had the continental breakfast which was delicious, no faults at all and we left for the day. We were fortunate enough to wake up to a snowy winter wonderland outside, the views were stunning. Following on from the first night, the staff were accommodating to switch our room. The lady on the desk took our bags and took them into our new room which was MUCH better, more reflective of the price we paid for the stay. If we had been given this room in the first place, the review would have been a lot more positive.

When we arrived, we were told that we had been booked into the room below the glass conservatory, when we went down to the outbuilding, it was clear to see the standards were not the same as the hotel itself. The door into the building was on a magnetic lock, but it didn't seal shut. With the cold air blowing into the building, it was not as welcoming as the hotel. We stayed in the room directly next to the door and it was clear it was not up to fire regulations, as it had a significant draft coming through the door from the outside. The door handles and doors were all loose, the bathroom door didn't have a catch on it, so could only be locked with the throw bolt. The door stop was loose on the bathroom door too. We went for food in the hotel and came back to get an early night. I woke up at around 5am with excruciating back pain, not realising the bed had two huge delves in it, I was unable to get comfortable and had to ask to switch rooms. The cost of the booking did not reflect the room we were originally given.

There was one staff member who was nice. Jessy. However, stuart. Should not be working with the public.

I told them it was for mine and my partners birthday as it says let us know if its a special occasion. they did nothing. In fact, Stuart was very abrupt and very unsympathetic in all his correspondence. And due to this I would never book here again.
