Puri Maju Hotel

First time in Jakarta so had no idea really where to go but personally i would avoid this area. It's not close enough to either monas or the museum's in Kota. Blok M was much more to my liking and that's South Jakarta. The traffic here is bonkers,venturing outside the hotel on foot is extremely risky but if you dare to venture out,you will hit some decent Malls/Plazas and food courts if you walk about 20 minutes to the right when you hit the main rd from the hotel. I'd be amazed if you stayed in this area at all but if you do end up here,this hotel is as good as any that you'll get for the money.

The hotel is filthy, the shower, the sink area, the floor around the toilet and the mirror look like they are never wiped/washed. The breakfast is served. In your room at 7.30-8am, you choice of seating out side of your room, no choice of what time you will eat. Everyone gets the same thing, either rice or noodles and crackers, with tea. I didn't eat or drink the tea because I didn't trust them when the food was delivered cold, that they cooked it enough to kill any bacteria etc. There were wires sticking out of the wall. There was also a huge crack in the wall. No window. The bed lamps weren't working. The pillows were made of something that made your head sink and the pillow just flattens, like a soft balloon. I chose this hotel because online it got good reviews for wifi. I got a room with bad wifi, I couldn't watch a movie without stopping every 10 minutes to load. I was eaten alive by mosquitoes. I killed about 20 before I asked for a spray against them. Above the toilet there is an opening they can get through. The spray was so strong my nose was burning but it was late and I had to go to sleep with my head under the duvet. The duvet sheet was full of cigarette burns, even though it's a non smoking room. In the morning I woke up to find a dead cockroach in the sink, likely dead from the spray. On check in the lady gave me the agreement in Indonesian and told me where to sign, she was looking at me strange when I used google translate to see what I was signing. Like I insulted her by not blindly signing everything a stranger gives me. They ask for 100,000 deposit for any damage to the room, and at check out I gave the room key back and was just told 'Thank you' and got a wave. I had to remind them of the deposit.
