Great Stay

The exceptional, friendly, and efficient staff even on a busy New Year's Eve visit.

The food in the restaurant was good but not exceptional (except for the Lava Cake). Not quite sure how they arrived at who gets what table and at what time. We were told they only had 5 pm available, but when we left, there seemed to be lots of empty tables. We sat at the bar for a while, and there were empty tables right up to 8 pm, so why couldn't we have a reservation for at least 6 pm.

A journey back in time!

The view is exceptional. The location (near stanley park and the beach is amazing. The hotel is a beautiful old building with loads of charm. The people watching on the waterfront walkway is great. The bike paths allow for excellent access to the park.

It is a bit difficult to get into the downtown area on foot as you are quite removed from the main shopping areas.

The staff were super friendly! We loved how pet friendly it was and being able to access English Bay and the seawall. It felt very safe and comfortable, we would definitely stay again.

Great location, big rooms, fair price

I loved staying at the Sylvia, from location, to comfortable bed, to wifi, large rooms, to friendly staff. My wife and I are just back from 3 months in South America, we had our best sleeps in the Sylvia ! Much appreciated

Nothing.. one of the two elevators was out of service. Floors are a bit squeaky. Place is a classic 110 year old beauty.

I really enjoyed the homey feeling and friendly staff. The beds were awesome and it was quiet!

The hotel staff was extraordinary! Bed and linen were very. Very quiet at night.

The service at the restaurant could have been more friendly. And the food disappointed us a little bit.

Very good

Very enjoyable old hotel in a superb location. Used to stay here 30 years ago - lovely to be back.

Absolutely perfect breakfast when you are able to choose individual items.

It would have been nice to have had a sea view - we looked out on the side - but still pleasant with a small view of the sea.

It was a warm and welcoming experience.

Oh, breakfast was great! I had eggs Benedict twice. We love the dining room with its beautiful views. We had 2 excellent dinners and a late lunch there, including a larger family celebration. Service was attentive and thoughtful. ( lighted birthday candles) Of course, the location was the best, with Stanley Park next door and the beach in front of us.,
