We had a very bad experience with room check-in. We booked an ocean-view room with 2 beds for my family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) at the time my kids were 12 and 5 on Oct. When we checked in at Dec, my son just turned to 13, we were charged an additional $173 per night for our stay because my son is 13 instead of 12. However the age under 17 is minor when we booked at bookkng.com and there would be no price difference if the age is 12 or 13 according to the check-in staff. Still they insisted on charging us $1000 plus for our stay. We don't have a choice as it was Christmas Eve and the booking was nonrefundable. The worst experience came when we got into our room there was only one king bed in a small room not like what I booked! We went back to the lobby and argued with the staff and she said they will add one small bed to the room! I was so shocked as the room is so small and there would be no room for an additional bed (right the room does not even have a room for a sofa or sofa bed). I have never experienced such a worse hotel for which I paid near $900 US dollar for a room with max no more than. 3 (2 adults and one kid) with a tiny bathroom! Until we talked to the manager, he didn't acknowledge what they did is wrong first and was able to change a different room for us (ocean front room with 2 beds). The new room was nice with enough room for our 4 people. But the cost wouldn't be higher for what we paid after with the additional charge. Besides the. room check-in drama, the restaurants are okay. The location is very convenient. And the private beach is beautiful. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we won't come back to this hotel. It is just a reminder not to be fooled by the "high rated" reviews like me. Checking the low/fair reviews tell you the other side of the story. I wished I had done it before I booked.this hotel.

Poor service, unaccommodating, rude staff, but good location/view
The location of Royal Cancun is wonderful, and the beach is excellent. It's well-suited for solo travelers or couples looking for a clean and pleasant stay. However, families may need to weigh other factors (see below).
We often visit Cancun but were disappointed with our first stay at Grand Park Royal. The service was the worst we've encountered in the area, with poorly trained and often rude staff. Our all-inclusive experience felt like a waste of money. Our child has social anxiety and struggles with crowded places. To accommodate this, we took a few pieces of chicken and some vegetables in a box from the lunch and dinner buffet for him to eat alone. However, when we did this, the manager became upset and insisted that it wasn't allowed, even after we explained our situation. His response was not only rude, but he also monitored us the following days to ensure we didn't take any more food. In contrast, other resorts in Cancun, like Crown Paradise, were more accommodating, often voluntarily preparing a special box for our child daily. This situation forced us to eat out and buy groceries, even though we had already paid for the all-inclusive plan. It was surely not because we didn't tip, instead, we tipped really well. The bars and snack bars were inconveniently located, and the drink quality was below average for Cancun. Beach service was slow, and we often went out for drinks. Another point of dissatisfaction was the resort's pushy marketing. Upon check-in, we were immediately ushered to a booth for tour sign-ups and pre-reservation for future stay and felt pressured to make decisions on the spot. Lastly, we experienced some issues with the resort's electricity. Our elevator got stuck once, and the room outlets frequently lost power. This was particularly challenging as we had to buy a blender and microwave to prepare food for our child in the room. The best service we received was from Budget car rental (thanks, Monica!). In summary, if you're traveling alone or as a couple and value good views, location, and cleanliness, Royal Cancun might be suitable.

Very good
Paradise on earth with small caveats
Beach and the property surroundings were excellent. The staff is super friendly, attentive, and accommodating and always present with a smile. The beach walks in the morning or the night are absolutely magical and were the highlight for us. The property has a very nice deep beach section compared to the surrounding hotels and has also a wider footprint than most. While we did not attend most of the animation events, the ones we attended were fun.
The food, in general, is nothing to write home about and is probably the weakness of this hotel. The experiences, i.e., the 3 - 4 different cuisines they tried to capture in the restaurants, are completely unnecessary. The best food offering was the lunchtime menu at Flor del Sal for us for it was the most authentic to the location from my perspective.

Dont book it!
Location is pretty good.
We were asked to go to a presentation which was just an aggressive hard sell for a time share/ membership, it took 3 hours with 6 different people trying to sell to us. They wanted us to sign up to a 30,000 dollar membership without allowing us to go away and think about it. Never been to anything like this before. The shower had no hot running water, the concierge arent very helpful. The food was below average. Its actually all very dated.

Expected more food choices in all inclusive and better views but couldnt
Room view was excellent, they had provided good rooms and located side by side, which really helped us a lot. Iceroom location and service is exceptional
Dinner planning is next to impossible, they didnt allow to go to sister hotels. Food is OK, sometimes good. Overall hard to say its value unless we compare with others, they need to improve on food

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT, IF YOU ARE GOING AS A FAMILY
The location was great and room.were clean
The service and staff were pathetic! I had the worst vacation with my toddler which was suppose to be a memorable one.. they service people were arrogant and never cared about the needs for a baby with sensitive foos and allergy. They were unable to provide high chair 4 out of 5 days we stayed their! Food was terrible!

The all inclusive is a lie
Food wait staff were really nice for the most part.
We paid for the all inclusive experience and we werent able to eat at any of the restaurants because they were all booked days in advance. Its not fair for people that just arrived. We have an all inclusive timeshare with Fiesta Americana and they are amazing. So my expectations were pretty high. We did not receive a tour of the hotel or of the amenities. We also were turned away from the pizza corner at 11am because apparently they dont open it until 11:30am. However, on the paper map of the hotel they have it as open at 11am. The whole all inclusive is honestly just a lie to get you to stay there.

It totally ruined our holidays, all plan cancelled, kid is in pain.
The location is good.
We arrived in this all-inclusive hotel on 20 Dec in good health. In the night of 21 Dec, we ate at the Oriental Restaurant and my son started to have sever stomach pain, together with vomiting. I called in a doctor and he said it was food poison from virus. All we ate were from the hotel. I called the manager to file a complaint. He just said sorry but didn't do anything. It totally ruined our holiday and $400 for the medical expenses. I'm so disappointed with Grand Park Royal. Will never come back.
