Cliff Hotel review on 27 December 2023

The food was very nice and there was plenty of it. Also, I treated myself to one of their excellent cocktails before dinner! Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room very comfortable. There is plenty of free parking. Good location for walking to town/beach. All we needed was better weather but unfortunately that was out of hotels control!

Didn't like our view from the window as we were up in an attic room, so we looked over roof! (Room 208) The shower cubicle could have done with something to hold toiletries in, although probably being picky about that! But mostly we were satisfied with our accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall really happy with our holiday.

Clean, tidy, staff very helpful, good location, overall really enjoyed my holiday. My husband is a chef and was dissapointed by the food options. Breakfast was really delicious, food choices were varied. However, he believes there should be two different menus, lunchtime and evening, to give you more food options throughout the day. We only stayed for 4 days, and he struggled to find food he really liked. There was a lot of barbecue sauces on food.

Excellent apart from the room being cold

Location, clean and very welcoming

The room was cold on arrival, told by receptionist to turn the valves to switch the radiators on, they only got warm at the bottom

Nice location and vibe, hotel let down by part of it being a bit shabby. Bar food not great

Overall vibe. Staff were generally very nice and helpful Location Comfortable bed & lounge area Breakfast OK, but toaster did not work properly. Short staffed.

Shower was faulty (leaking pipe mean reduced flow to head) Sink plug leaked - could not use it to hold water for anytime Bathroom generally shabby Bar restaurant more like a 'canteen' environment Food not great but one meal was discounted due to poor quality. Ate out the second night at the Pier Hotel - food there much better Worn Stair Carpet

Disappointing

Disappointing due to guests not hotel itself

We have stayed many times as my in laws live local so lovely hotel to stay in when visiting for the odd night.

I booked the stay as a treat for my son to see his nan with his dad over night as I had to work. My partner called when he checked in saying the room 125 was clean and nicely located. When he returned late that evening to sleep the next room (128) had there door wide open with kids running about making noise (its a hotel so some noise to be expected) however what he didnt expect was the strong stench of weed coming from the room. My partner doesnt like to complain so didnt call reception to say anything however my son was complaining of his head hurting and feeling sick/being sick in the early hours. His has ADHD and is very sensitive to smells weve experienced this being and the smell of weed on a bus made him violently sick. What should have been a nice day spent seeing family today was instead spent them both needing some sleep before they travelled home. Its such a shame that what I thought would be a nice treat didnt end that way. I just wish my partner had complained in person instead of before to tired to this morning :(
