Amazing boutique stay!

We had such a lovely stay at Villa Thamburu. The whole premise is just amazing. Very boutique but everything was 5 star. A lot of thought has gone into create such a beautiful sanctuary. The little touches - like locally made Barefoot linen robes etc really added to the 'premium' feel of the place. The staff went out of their way to accomodate us - even tracking my daughter down a boogie board so she could have fun on the beach. The breakfasts were amazing - and the quality of the food to die for. Can't wait to make it back - absolutely 5 (if not 6 stay) boutique accomodation on a stunning beach.

Unfortunately we found the mosquitos to be a little out of control once the sun went down in the on-site restaurant. The food was lovely but the mosquito made dining a little hard down there - I wish the restaurant could be inclosed at night as we would have happily eaten there overnight. Hoping this is just a seasonal thing and not a persistent problem.

Great experience but not quite perfect

There was a lot to like at the hotel. The room is very comfortable and there is plenty of space in both the bedroom and the bathroom to feel right at home. The general decor of the hotel is very easy on the eye, and its obvious that its been designed with a lot of focus on modern living. Located on a quiet yet vast beach, it is ideal for couples and families to enjoy. The gardens are also very nice and peaceful. It is an incredibly clean hotel, practically spotless and the laundry service was great. Transport help is offered when needed including the classic car, which they offered us at no extra charge

The service was a little robotic and slow at times. Its obvious this is a new hotel and the staff are still learning how to make the experience seamless and memorable but it felt like they lacked a bit of personality and attention to detail in the restaurant and at reception from time to time. For example, the waiting staff didnt seem to know further details about the food on the menu, or what fish options were available and their prices without checking all the time. Could have been better managed

Congratulations to the entire team on an incredibly well managed resort!

Great new place on the beach, everything amazingly clean and in good taste. Staff were all incredibly nice and the service was very personalised, we were always made feel like our experience was the most important thing for the hotel.

Very hard to fault anything but if hard pressed to point anything out I would say that while most of the food served was great, it was not a stand out as everything else (I only say that because you can get equally incredible food in less upmarket places in Sri Lanka)

Super stylish hotel

New, exceptionally stylish property that was celebrating its 1 year anniversary while we stayedwe got a delicious piece of birthday cake! The location is excellent with direct access to a nice beach (which has a few restaurants and bars within walking distance) and easy reach of a turtle sanctuary definitely worth visiting, as well as a great beach bar called Waves a short Tuk Tuk ride away. You have the choice of cooling down in the ocean or in the hotels exquisite pool and, as is typical throughout Sri Lanka, its the lovely people who make a place special and this hotel is no exception. Choice of Western or Sri Lankan breakfast, both of which were plentiful. You wont be disappointed if you book to stay at this hotel. We were sorry to leave.

4 nights in paradise!

We had a wonderful stay! The villa is beautifully designed and in a quiet location on an amazing stretch of beach. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The deluxe room was great and the food (lunch & dinner) were so tasty that we did not go anywhere else during our 4-night stay. We will come again and recommend to all our friends!

Superb location & awesome staff

Everything! The resort is superb, everything looks like in the pictures. The design of the villa is amazing, everything is very clean and the staff is extremely polite, helpful and professional. Shoutout to everyone working at the resort, they really went out of their way to give us an amazing time. Also, the food at the restaurant is amazing! We can recommend the resort without hesitation!

That we only booked it for 3 nights. Couldve stayed a lot longer and were missing it already!
