Very noisy, avoid if you want to get any sleep

The hotel has a lot country westen charm which is nice, but, in the end doesn't count for much if you cannot get any sleep due to the intolerable noise level in the room.

So the absolute worst part was the noise level in the room. We stayed on the first floor and there was this incredibly loud ventilation system running literally all night. We were provided with ear plugs but that didn't help much, it took away some of the high frequencies but the bass was still there and it was just impossible to get any sleep. We had booked for two nights but we cancelled the second night and moved to the Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast, a few miles north of Durango, which turned out to be great, wish we had just booked two nights there!

Perfect gem of a hotel in beautiful Durango. Experience was perfect to celebrate this holiday season

The front desk staff went above and beyond to help us, greet us and provide breakfast recommendations for the day we left. Mahogany Grill was outstanding too. Great holiday gift for us!

We have no complaints. It was a great stay in a well managed and maintained property.

Fun place to visit

I always wanted to stay at the hotel. I used to live in Durango years ago. The diamond bell didnt have the old player piano but they had a great guitar player. The room was cute but I didnt see any ghost.

Is a fun, unique way to experience Durango.

Unique hotel with a lot of history. Not a cookie cutter room experience. The bathroom was very cute.

Its a little aged. One bed squeaked every time you moved but the hotel was prompt in taking care of that for us.

Love staying at the Starter. But please, please please invest in coffee pots for the rooms. It is not comfortable to have to get dressed to get a cup of coffee in the lobby. Especially since you no longer have breakfast restaurant during the week!! This might seem like a small request but will be a big improvement to your hotel!!!

No coffee pot in the rooms!!
