False advertising and rude staff that are way too used to getting away with this! Make sure you read the reviews (even the mainly positive ones) carefully as many of them have pointers to their malicious practices! They lure you far out to their property by advertising all these great activities, and only after a 2.5h drive you find out that most of the activities are not being offered with various different excuses (the boat skipper is only available on Mondays; the weather does not allow us to go out on the water; the tea farm is closed during the holidays; we only have one guide available and other guests have asked for tour x) every staff has their own convenient excuse to offer with a little smirk on their faces. Now as you can see from other reviews, this is something they do routinely and then they offer you a small refund or a bottle of wine since they know that youre not going to leave after a tiring multi hour drive. We were really excited this stay, as the high rating and advertising made it look great. Worst part is that they were trying to blame us for misunderstanding how they schedule the activities and not communicating our wishes properly. We were very clear with the activities we were looking to do and communicated this upfront to the reservations office, unfortunately it turns out that the reservations office, based in Johannesburg, doesnt actually know whats going on at the property and vice versa. Really not an experience you expect at this price point.Theres plenty of better places closer to Cape Town where you will have a better time at this price point!

Absolutely LOVED Cederberg Ridge and will definitely be going back!

The food was excellent, especially the breakfasts. We stayed over Christmas and both the dinner on Christmas Eve plus lunch on Christmas Day were very special. Staff were on a different level in terms of service! Nothing was too much effort and they genuinely wanted us to have the best experience! We received different treats every day - home made ice creams, cakes, chocolates... Fresh flavoured ice cold water on tap plus two full bottles of complimentary water every day. Scenery is beyond beautiful. On the last evening we returned to our room to find the bath full of steaming water and bubbles, with lots of candles placed around the bathroom. Just so many lovely touches. We stayed in room 11 which is on the far end of the lodge and it has it's own little pool and seating area with a double day bed which was lovely.

Personally weI would prefer slightly older children around when we are on holiday as too many young children in a group can disturb the quiet romance and relaxation of a place like Cederberg Ridge (especially in the pool). We were disappointed that the sunset cruise wasn't on offer, which we were most looking forward to from the all-inclusive option. In the end we only did one excursion out of a possible seven over the four days of our stay as some of the trips were a bit too long and it was extremely warm!

Simplicity

The wind! Some of the staff seriously needs training. Specifically the waiters. They should know the menu and must be able to provide info. The art of hospitality will always be to be visible / invisible. Outdoor furniture looks rather delapidated.

Excellent staff, food, room, and prime location with lots of activities available (proper hikes on the vast lodge area!). Not cheap but definitely worth the price!

Gorgeous resort with guided daily activities

Gorgeous property and friendly staff in a beautiful region of South Africa. The design of the resort (big windows, etc) really help you appreciate the natural beauty. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the emphasis on the local productions - wine, rooibos, etc.

I didn't entirely understand how the resort worked before coming (the activities options, etc), which was probably mostly my fault because I was busy before going on the trip and didn't fully review the materials they sent us, but I also think it could be clearer on their bookings.com page.
