The Shinola Hotel offers a modern and up-to-date experience with a mix of classic and modern furnishings. The staff is friendly and helpful, though valet service is pricey. The rooms are nice and cle (Read More)an, but smaller than pictured online, and the bathroom lighting is poorly designed. Room service is prompt but expensive. One of the nicest places Ive ever stayed.

The atmosphere, upscale decorating in the room and lobby, convenient location to walk to many of the Detroit venues, restaurants, and shops.

Very good

I am an interior designer so I am picky! I was underwhelmed by the room decor. ZERO art/photos? It was very blank. If the room had a spectacular view then I would get it- but the view was just into the building across the street and we were on the top floor. The bathroom was fabulous.

Loved the vibe of the hotel. We especially appreciated the champagne delivered after we thought we missed the window for the request.

Exceptional

We liked the proximity to everything in the city. We attended a two day concert at Ford Field and a Red Wings hockey game, both only requiring a 10 minute walk. It was much better than find parking and dealing with traffic. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were always clean. Every detail was well attended to.

The cost was high but the quality was exceptional.
