The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Bergen has a fantastic location and serves extremely tasty breakfasts with a focus on local cuisine. The rooms are tidy and cozy, although slightly small. The beds are (Read More) very comfortable and the service is good. However, one reviewer noted that there may be noise from a nearby nightclub at night. Overall, it is a comfortable stay with friendly staff and a beautiful location in Bergen.

The location is good and the service of the staff, mainly at the front desk and the restaurant.
The housekeeping service. The housekeeping knocked at my door before 8.30am. In my opinion, housekeeping service should not be this early as hotel guests may still be sleeping.

3rd visit, don't think we'll bother again.
We have visited the hotel twice before and the location is perfect. We were allowed to keep our room after check out.
The hotel appeared to be half empty at best but we were still given a terrible room on the 3rd floor. It was in the centre of the hotel facing other rooms and looking down on a flat roof with cigarette ends on it. I believe they have prisons in Norway with better views. The room had virtually no natural light and you had to crane your neck to see the sky The window only opened a fraction and due to the enclosed courtyard there was virtually no airflow. We had a terrible nights sleep. There was a dirty tissue left in the bin and the kettle was left half full. There were black hairs in the sink. Only tea/coffee for one person left.

During my visit, I encountered several issues with the room provided, which significantly impacted my overall experience. Despite being upgraded to a higher-tier room, I regret to inform you that my stay was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the television in the room was not functional, rendering it impossible for me to enjoy the amenities provided. This was particularly disappointing, given my Premium membership status, which usually ensures a seamless and comfortable stay. Additionally, the washroom presented a major inconvenience. Upon using the facilities, I discovered that the washroom turned into a pool due to what I believe to be plumbing issues. This unexpected situation not only created discomfort but also raised concerns about the overall maintenance of the hotel. I promptly informed the staff at the front office about these issues, seeking assistance to resolve the technical problems and a possible room change. Unfortunately, I was informed that there was no one available to address the technical issues, and there were no alternative rooms available for me to move into. As a loyal member of the Radisson community, I am disheartened by this experience, as it does not align with the high standards of service I have come to expect from your esteemed establishment. I believe that prompt attention to these matters is crucial to maintaining the reputation of the Radisson brand.

Joao at reception was amazing
We were only there for five hours but Joao at reception went out of his way to help us. He managed to find us interconnecting rooms and took all our bags to the room for us which was no expected but so helpful. He 100% made our short stay.

Location was very good.
Long queue with long time awaiting for checking in. Towel in bathroom had hairs on it - requested new towels. I have been told in the messages afte booking done that I will get the room with bath for this price but it was not available on checking in.

Good location but not so good front desk service especially from one receptionist.
Property was accessible both from airport and the train station. A few tourist attractions were nearby so thats a plus
Not sure if it is because of the number of guests staying at the hotel, but I had to inform the reception thrice(twice to the same person) to get my room cleaned. Plus did not have a good experience with regards to the same receptionist booking an airport taxi - I requested a change in timing (15 mins earlier than I had requested initially) for the taxi pickup, which was assured by the receptionist, but taxi came only at the original pickup time). Also, the receptionist didnt give right information about the fare for the taxi. I was told a fixed price of 600nok will be charged to airport from the hotel, but I was charged more than that by the taxi company. It would be nice to save oneself from such surprises. But for the initial cleaning request, all my experiences Ive mentioning here are with the same receptionist.

Understaffed and not very clean
Our room faced one of the little alleyways of Bryggen, so it was very quiet during the night, unlike our previous room in a different hotel. The location of the hotel in the old town is handy for exploring the sights of Bergen. Staff were very friendly.
There was only one person working at reception and a long queue for check-in. Also the check-in process itself seemed to take a long time. There aren't many daylight hours in Bergen in winter, and one of those was wasted waiting around to check in. It wasn't very clean. The furniture, light switches and floor in the room hadn't been cleaned properly and the carpets in the corridors were so filthy it makes you wonder if the hotel has vacuum cleaners.
