EnVieng House(อองเวียงเฮ้าส์): CM old city, Wat Phrasing

This is a great place for families or groups to stay in. Number and size of beds/bathrooms described accurately, the 8 people in our family group were very comfortable. Check-in was easy with lockbox though Google Maps showed location on the opposite side of street which confused us for a while (I see the location now shows correctly). The unit was exceptionally clean with lots of thought and care by the host to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen was stocked with quality instant coffee (enough for our 5 day stay) and some very nice local tea, and a generous supply of drinking water (bottles) - enough for our first day/evening. Good quality towels & linens were provided and the bathroom/shower fixtures were in great working condition. Very nice to have the clothes washing machine with laundry detergent provided. Location is great - short walking distance to Wat Phra Singh (1 block), great massage shop next door, restaurants and 7-11 nearby, and easy walking into other areas of the Chiang Mai old town. Street is busy during the day but quiet at night. All in all our family really enjoyed staying here and we found it to be an exceptional value. Additional notes: The house is set up as 2 separate units: 1-BR self-contained unit (with small kitchen/fridge and bathroom) on ground floor plus the larger 2-BR unit on higher floors. There is a common door to the outside then separate locked doors to each of the two units inside. It was actually an advantage to have the additional small kitchen area in the ground floor room, the older members of our family could stay there without having to climb stairs to the main kitchen area. The 2-BR unit has 2 flights of stairs to reach its main level (kitchen/dining/BR), then another flight of stairs to the last bedroom. People staying in this bedroom climb 3 flights of stairs to reach it (from ground level entrance).

More additional notes (these are not meant to be negative comments, just more notes): The bedroom with one double-bed is not really a separate bedroom but is a partitioned area (heavy plastic curtain-style partition floor-to-ceiling) next to the main living room. Not really a problem but less privacy than a true separate bedroom. The bed in this room is a mattress on the floor, but the mattress was quite comfortable with good linens/pillows and not a problem for us. This partitioned BR area had a sliding door opening on to a small balcony overlooking the street which made for nice ambiance in this BR area. There is parking space for 1 car at the unit (in front). But we found street parking easily nearby for our second car.

Everything about the room was exactly the same as in the description. I was surprised when I arrived because it was full, with almost everything from kitchen utensils, spices, and even games, so you can enjoy your trip. And the important thing is it's SUPER CHEAP compared to the quality. Central location, close to many large temples and night markets. Next to the pharmacy and massage parlor, there are restaurants and cafes, and rental motorbike stores around. Spacious, comfortable space for groups of 8-10 people (can accommodate more). And one thing I really like is that no matter how many people you go with, there is no extra charge. Large groups should consider the house as the first choice in Chiangmai. Our driver was shocked to find out the price per night for the entire house. He said he would recommend it to his guests as well as his friends and relatives. One of the best experiences in Chiangmai.
