Exceptional

The Elgano Hotel is excellent as its near Cardiff city centre

Walking distance to city centre from the Elgano Hotel isnt far, only 15 minutes and if you wanted to have a meal, theres an excellent Italian restaurant on the premises. Our Hosts were lovely and very welcoming. Wed definitely recommend it and hope to stay there next time were up in Cardiff.

Nice place, would stay again

Nicely decorated room and very compact but well appointed ensuite. Liked the heated towel rail and abundance of towels. Great location, 15/20 min walk to the heart of the city centre. Friendly staff and nice looking restaurant, though I didn't eat there. Check out very simple.

My room was up two 1/2 flights of stairs - not a problem if you have no mobility issues or heavy luggage but worth noting there's no lift. I was disturbed by some very loud people on the street at night (possibly from the pub a couple of doors down?) so not great if you are a light sleeper if your room is on the main road side. Bring earplugs! Duvet was too thin.

The toilet was cold, since you keep it separate from the sink and shower you should place a heater inside.

Will be staying again.

The accommodation was nice and quiet, even though he restaurant was busy and it's in the city centre. Very clean room.

Lovely and peaceful

A very cosy, modern and clean room, with nice ensuite shower. The decor was lovely and it was a peaceful stay. It might have been the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever stayed on. There was a good amount of tea/coffee and towels. The location is good, about 15ish minutes walk to the castle. Not too close to the city, and was quiet on a Saturday night. Staff seemed nice!

The hairdryer didnt work unfortunately. Just to note that the property is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs up to the room, and as a user of crutches I found the stairs a little tricky. There is an Italian restaurant downstairs that we did not use as there was limited vegetarian options. It is a highly reviewed restaurant though!

Heating

Good bathroom, very clean, bed was very comfortable though a little low. Short walk into centre of Cardiff. Staff were friendly.

Upon arrival the room was cold, the heating was switched off and I had to ask staff to switch it on which they did( I shouldn't have to ask, it was about 1c outside) I woke up around 8 am to find the room getting colder. They had switched off the heating ready for an 11am departure. Trying to get us out early? It worked. When your paying 120 for the night you shouldn't have to come to a cold room or wake up to a cold room. The heating issue let the property down.
