Lovely hotel with character for a special night away

Lovely atmosphere in the hotel when we arrived with open fires. Room was huge and had 2 roll top baths which was perfect. Nice to be able to pick anything off the breakfast menu which was cooked fresh instead of a buffet style

The door handle was hanging off our room (no.8) which is a very minor point and some of the furniture was a bit damaged but loved the period features so not a big point

We arranged to have breakfast in our room at the time of booking and on arrival the receptionist told us to ring down in the morning.... when I phoned down I was greeted with a very rude response that they do not do breakfast in room as not insured....I said that it been previously arranged but he wasn't having any of it.... was so rude to me on the phone.... so we packed up and left without breakfast ....it ruined our stay and not a great start to the new year And found tor clipping and hair in room.... which we paid 162.00 for the night.... the best room in the hotel

De Parys Hotel Bedford December Stay

Location excellent. Parrking Close to town centre and the park. Very friendly staff and great breakfast

Only one of the two radiators was working so were rather cold at night. Had a portable electric fan heater but was too noisy to sleep with on.

Do your homework before booking this hotel

Location was OK and the room was clean

The room we had is in desperate need of repairs, lights not working, shower needed attention, drawer front coming off. Not much storage . Heated towel rail wasn't working, the room was heated by one radiator. No grab rail in the shower or non slip mat. The handle on the shower door was hanging off. Breakfast was included, in no way would we have paid 14.50 for a full English. Served with fatty bacon and should have been scrambled eggs, not sure what it was !! It was all luke warm and the beans were cold. We spoke to the manager and said he would move us to another room but none suitable for us. We booked a quiet room and must have been one of the noisiest. We only stayed one night as I became unwell on the morning of the second day. The manager refunded 40 for all the problems. I would advise anyone booking this hotel to thoroughly research it .

Some Lovely staff. Nice building

Lovely building and good food reasonably priced

Got locked out. Emergency didnt respond when called. Stood in the rain for over 1.5 hours. Ruined the night vibe. Nightmare. Will complain to the chain about it. Now have a cold because l was stood in the rain. Very dusty stayed there last year too. Bath drains are blocked so when you shower the water remains in the tub.
