I was upgraded in one of the apartment and it was amazing. Clean and spotless with comfortable bed. I would highly recommend book these apartment as you feel like at home.

Very good

Cairns sea front backpackers.

The location was great. Just one minute walk to the sea shore. The staff (Peta) were extremely helpful and friendly. She helped me book excursions and organised my stay for an extra night in the same room. Even booked a cab to take me to the airport early in the morning.

It's not a hotel so it's bound to be a bit rough around the edges but it suited my needs. Could be a bit cheaper.

After a somewhat unfortunate check-in, I received a unique and unbelievable compensation. I don't want to give any details, but I've never experienced anything like this. wow and thank you very much. I stayed in a double room with a private bathroom. It was more like a small apartment with a separate bedroom. Everything is spacious and very clean. A broken lightbulb was immediately replaced. The hostel is very centrally located, right on the Esplanade, and yet a little distance from the hustle and bustle and therefore nice and quiet, especially at night. A good breakfast is available right outside the door at Muddy's. I can absolutely recommend the accommodation.

First time I ever stayed at a backpackers - I was impressed

Location location location, easy after-hours check-in, very friendly staff, private room away from others, quiet at night, plenty of clothes hangers, pool area (didn't use as it was a bit cool and rainy) and most of all... Bagus Cafe!

Airport transfer wasn't available, single hook in bathroom was broken, maybe put a curtain on the door's window so as not to flash everyone accidentally LOL. These are minor compared to the good things.

Disappointing

There were 2 washing machines (at extra cost) available and 1 dryer (also at extra cost), which was convenient. We didn't use any of the common areas, so I can't comment on these.

The room wasn't clean, with the sheets threadbare. Due to some issues there were limited hours where there were any staff around, although the one person there was very helpful and did their best to help us with our stay. The room we stayed in had shutter windows and therefore all the traffic going by could be heard. We were not very comfortable staying here and wouldn't recommend it for any families.

Very good location on the esplanade, close to the city centre. Good facilities (swimming pool, kitchen, garden...). Very large room.

Staff rarely available at reception. Room quite noisy as on the road side and no insulation between rooms.

Passable

Effective as a place to sleep after adventuring all day.

Location is great, right on the Esplanade - easy to walk around town. Suitable crash pad for those on holiday who will spend all day adventuring and need somewhere to put their things and sleep. The food joint right outside is brilliant!

At the time of writing, they are struggling with staffing. In my case, this meant I couldn't utilize the stated 'free airport shuttle', the hostel was unstaffed most of the time (no organizing tours etc), there was an issue with my booking...etc. They are doing a great job despite these circumstances, but anyone contemplating booking should know this. My room also had the unshakeable smell of mold :|
