Perfect for a couples getaway, and not too far from the centre.

It was comfy and well furnished throughout. Gaining entry via key in key box was easy. I loved the painted stones at the main entrance gate. Proximity to pubs and city centre was great - well within walking distance (even in the pouring rain).

There was a strange odour (drainage issue?) in the toilet/shower room which was very unpleasant. We had to keep the door closed at all times due to the strong odour.

WHAT A HIDDEN GEM

Ashley was a fantastic host, saw him when we arrived, but other than that, he was just in the background if he was needed. The rooms were the cleanest we had ever stayed in and the lovely little touches like fresh fruit,yoghurts, croissants were fabulous as was the mini fridge where our chablis lived. The shower abd bsthroom was finished to a high standard and again was spotlessly clean. Great too that you have a parking plce. The walk into York is roughly about 10 to 15 minutes, we couldn't walk along the river due to The Ouse being flooded but the main road walk was great with a lovely pub The lighthorseman to stop if you so desired. Would recommend this delightful gem of a place and will definitely be back.

Festive stay with friends

There is nothing not to like here. All the rooms are decorated to a high standard. The host Ashley is very hospitalble, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely walk from the location into York. It was our 2nd time of staying here and we will be back Thank you for a lovely stay.

Comfortable room with plenty of storage space and a good size bathroom. Easy to get to the city centre along a main road. Once you got the hang of how the place works, it was all straightforward. Little fridge was useful and a small range of food was provided which was appreciated.

Slightly bonkers location of shelf above bathroom sink which made it very hard to use the sink. Needs to be relocated to the wall to the side!

York Stay

The location was great. Within walking distance of York town. Everything you needed was in the room. The little extras like the mini fridge, the tea and coffee and the breakfast treats were great. The shower facilities and extras was a bonus..

Unfortunately we didn't meet our hosts which I would have liked to have done. The mattress was a bit uncomfortable.
