we fell in love with Matera and will come back soon

perfect location for staying in the sassi. super Hotel staff. spacious and comfortable cave.

in our room we heard the noise of the elevator and also the noise of one of the buildings ventilations. The Spa didnt meet our expectations. The space is very noisy and we had annoying experiences with the Spa staff at check in and check out (unnecessary waiting time in cold room. irritating questions)

Made the right choice for an overnight in Matera. Wished we had longer to stay at Aquatio.

The room is top notch, beautiful cave renovation with great attention to detail in all of the finishes. Best shower I have ever taken! Gave us a free upgrade to a nicer suite room which was very appreciated and graciously let us check out very very late at about 4:30PM. Also the spa which was included makes it an incredible value as it is extremely unique and also great attention to detail and service. Its located in a very cool part of Matera also. Excellent stay.

Everything! Excellent location, loved the pool & spa access (make sure to book in advance before check in), great breakfast, comfortable beds, shower has great water pressure and lots of room.

Great location, staff, and spa!

Great location near many of the main sights. Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. The spa was great! The room was nicely decorated- a very luxurious cave experience. I requested a room with a bathroom door as not all rooms have this.

The only thing that wasnt great is the smell of humidity in the room. Not overwhelming but noticeable. I saw this mentioned in the reviews of other cave hotels in the area. So dont let it stop you from booking- its probably just part of the cave experience.

We had a great stay.

We liked the fact that there was always someone at the desk to take calls and help with arrangements. They all spoke excellent English and were very responsive. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the major sights.

For older people, it would have been better to have better lighting outside to help navigate the very dangerous steps. Of course, the hotel wanted to preserve the sense of authenticity, but it was dangerous for older people. We saw one older guest fall.
