Nice place, unfortunately poor customer service

Nice clan and comfortab room ,

Unfortunately, there is no heating at night when it's required for the coldest part of the night. The shower was not so great, intermittently giving hot water, Sleep being disturbed early hours of the morning by guest next-door baby crying . Poor customer service

Ideal for us, fair price and we would stay again.

Great location, parking was easy which was essential for us, room clean and tidy and staff friendly. Only had breakfast 1 day which was cooked to order and very nice.

Rooms could do with a refresh at some point, showing signs of age BUT clean and tidy which was the min thing. Entrance and bar area very nice.

We accidentally left our key in the room, it took numerous calls to the owner before anyone answered. They don't respond to emails, answer the phone, in fact it gets hung up before anyone or the answering machine answers.

Great location for the town with about a 10 minute walk into the centre. Parking was included which we found very helpf

The location was good for access to the centre of Bournemouth - the breakfast was great with a choice of full or light breakfast. The receptionist was helpful.

The bedroom was a little cold with no heating in the bathroom - a heater towel rail would have been very useful. The internet connection in our ground floor room was poor although better in the lounge area

Disappointing

Great hotel, terrible area.

So let's start with the good things about this holiday. I decided to treat the family for a last minute weekend away to Bournemouth. And this hotel was available at a fantastic price. Reviews were mostly great. To start with the booking.com system was great and the staff at reception knew what they were doing, welcomed with a smile and very helpful. The room we booked was awesome, nice big bed for the Mrs and myself and a cool bunk bed which the kids absolutely adored. You can tell the family are making a HUGE effort to ensure it's a nice affordable stay for families.... Anyone moaning around the condition for the price in my opinion needs to get their heads checked... It's amazing for the price! It was also extremely clean... Considering families probably will go out and get messy, the room was quite nicely presented! Once again overall... Value for money is excellent, hotel itself facility wise is great and we felt comfortable throughout our stay.

The Bed my partner and I had could have been better, it was two singles put together, but we dealt with it and accepted once again... It's a great value hotel, so we don't expect the Hilton! Now the part I feel needs to be addressed and ultimately ruined the family holiday.... The location... I thought Bournemouth was a nice place to take the family for the weekend, and everything I read in the booking's made it sound great. But Bournemouth tourist areas has had a large issue with thefts from vehicles over the last few years... And our family vehicle got broken into and items taken which had to be reported to the police. Ultimately... If this hadn't happened to us.... It would have been a perfect stay. But the hotel owners confirmed via phone that this has been happening in the areas, but still their CCTV for their ample size car park doesn't have efficient enough night time quality. Therefore Dorset Police were unable to help me at all, and neither were the hotel owners. I appreciate this is a horrible thing to score a hotel on. But ultimately everything we had enjoyed got removed and taken away by horrible individuals that clearly pray on family run businesses like the Applewood. The owners also could have made more of an effort to speak to me around this. Ask if my family were OK... Ask if the vehicle was OK, but didn't really communicate after everything was said and done. Sorry Applewood.... But because of what happened I will never stay at your Hotel again or hotel's around you without proper ample security. Also I feel this is a good enough reason to score as Booking.com specifically asks us what the area is like... Therefore.... Thefts.... Break in's.... You can't argue the truth.
