Very poor
Bad experience
The breakfast
The place looks really old and needs an upgrade. The cabinets are rusted and the shower has a bath tap with no shower head. There was only 1 gown in the room and it was dirty. It looked like it was worn by someone who was wearing makeup and they just tried to wipe it off. The smell from damp/ moulding from the walls was heavy. It really is over priced for 102 usd a night. I spent a night and it wasn't worth it. The star grading must be reviewed

Bad
Poor staff, misleading photos, grubby and uncomfortable
Nothing. I guess the fact that its in a good location but stone town is tiny so every hotel is in a good spot anyhow.
the photos are deceiving, this hotel is horrible. The photos must have been taken when it first opened years ago! The staff are rude and useless. Theres around 6 of them at breakfast just watching you eat. No welcome, hello, can I help, showing you where to sit. Nothing. Breakfast is gross. Everything feels dirty and scabby cats come and hover round you. We went and found breakfast elsewhere. The rooms are tiny because the bed frame with the mosi net is ridiculously big. So theres nowhere to open your suitcases except in the kitchen area / entrance to the bathroom The room needs maintenance, everything is scabby and needs renewing The room smells damp/musty The bathroom doesnt have a hand towel only two bath towels and the bath mat & dressing gowns are off white, need replacing The TV doesnt work, big white line down the centre of the screen on the only Channel that happens to play sound Tried to shower in the morning after my husband and there was no hot water left In the morning the staff will talk loudly, laughing, cleaning buckets, making so much noise waking you up. I had to tell them to be quiet at 6.45 as wed had a rough nights sleep The mosi net is full of holes and the woman came to spray mosi repellent one evening, she did only one side of the net then walked out! The pool area doesnt look welcoming and the garden area generally needs cleaning and tidying up

Disappointing
2 star on its best day.
Air conditioning in the room was good.
Taxi cant come near the front door. Its far from any road. So you hv to carry your bags in and out to the road.

Superb
Antonio Garden is located right in stone town so in the middle of everything. It's got a unique charm because of the architecture of the facility and how they blend modern facilities with characteristic/historic charm. Staff were polite and willing to help and given the location, it was easy to get to areas in the city. Walking distance to the 'downtown' area of Zanzibar (harbor, night market, etc).Highly recommended.
