Sandy Feet Accommodation

I liked it when we left. No safety at top of stairs into the musty room, which was dirty, and didnt smell clean at all. Broken window which was unable to be opened. Crowded room with too many beds, The sheets on the bed were shabby . The kitchen sink and bench top was filthy, and on the window sill behind the fridge was filthy with bugs, some dead and some still alive!!!!. The window was only open a bit and was unable to be closed. The kitchen dishes were stacked on a shelf above the sink covered with dust . The kitchen floor stuck to our shoes so it was apparent the floor had never been washed. Kitchen joinery hadnt been finished. Lightbulbs in lamps dusty. In the bathroom there was a rusted shower curtain rail and the toilet brush holder was rusted and appeared unusable. The skirtings were choked with dust and looked like they hadnt been cleaned at all. The hand basin needed to be cleaned before we used it.

(1) Rude, hostile, contemptuous host. Treated me like an idiot for not knowing how to change the heat pump settings. He wasnt just outraged: he was totally irrational, blaming me for settings that had been set during warmer weather and then for not realising someone else had done it. ? Aggressive notes throughout the minor common areas and room forbidding and threatening this and that. Id just come out of hospital and apologised for my and my luggages presentation. He was OKish with that but asked why I had been in hospital which was awkward and wasnt a friendly enquiry. (2) Despite the intimidating notes about quiet times, the house creaked like nothing on earth and ive come from creaky house land (wellli). I dont know but the host living quarters I think were upstairs and the stomping up stairs and on the upper floor throughout seemed almost effortful. I opined to my companion that the hotel could be re-marketed as a haunted house experience. Guests next door not noisy but easily heard through the walls. As I guess we were too, so a bit unsettling. So: You cant make noise, but you have to put up with noise. I dont see the give and take there. (3) Shower mixer handle fell off at every touch. We got used to re-affixing it, but re-settings temp and pressure was Mensa-test effort. I deliberately avoided raising it with the host given A. my experience asking for help with the heat pump settings B. reading reviews, one stating that a complaint was met with the retort if you want a 5-star hotel then pay for one. Yeah. Luxuries huh? Shower not professionally cleaned: mould and general gunge in crevices. OK for home maybe but not guest turnover. Made me wonder what I couldnt see. Usual kettle and drink stuff but no milk. Decent walk to shops and everything is extortionately expensive. Bring your own milk!!!!
