Superb

Lovely hotel in an excellent location with great food - fully recommend.

The White Stag is in an excellent location, close to the town centre but also the Valley Gardens. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was really nice with good facilities. The hotel has a lovely bar and restaurant, and the food was excellent.

Disappointing

Disappointing and will not be returning

Lovely location. The breakfast was lovely.

The smallest hotel room I have ever had. A rail on the wall for a wardrobe and no clothes drawers. It is described as cosy, but it should be described as a box room! It felt very claustrophobic. I booked 2 nights B&B, but due to a stomach bug I was unable to make the first night. When I checked in I asked if I could cancel my breakfast for the following morning. Bearing in mind I had not stayed the night before (which I duly informed the hotel), nor had a breakfast, the response I got was awful. It was up to me whether I had breakfast or not, but as my booking was for B&B (and discounted) and therefore there would be no refund. No empathy, no great customer service - just, tough!! The young guy on reception was obviously training, but the senior receptionist just stood by and said nothing. He could tell I was extremely unhappy. I have worked in many customer facing roles, mainly reception and this is one of the worst I have experienced. The wi-fi was extremely poor, so I ended up using data. In summary, I will not be returning to The White Hart. I am from Harrogate and visit on a regular basis. I will be returning to the Yorkshire or the Majestic in future.

The staff were really helpful.

Our initial room was noisy so we were moved to a quieter one. Fixtures and fittings did not seem to be maintained as things were falling off walls.

Exceptional

Fabulous stay, this is our go to hotel whenever we visit Harrogate.

Great location with parking available. Very comfortable bed and good nights sleep. Lovely room overlooking the green to the front of the hotel. Although the hotel was busy due to the festive season, the staff were unflustered and were welcoming as usual.

New years stay in cosy room

Having stayed in the usually very nice White Hart before many times both at New Year etc to meet up with family. This was the first time we mistakenly booked two cosy rooms. See comments below...

Having stated in the White Hart before many times at New Year, this was the first time we mistakenly booked two cosy rooms. They are off the main corridors overlooking the side alley with the huge vente pipe that is really loud and means sleep is impossible. The room across is so close you can hear everything and I mean everything. There was lots of dirt behind the radiators, and it is generally in need of a touch-up. Sadly at 378 for two cozy rooms for new year I am disappointed in the quality.
