Potential to be a great hotel but lacks so much

The location of the hotel was fab, walking distance to everything. The bar area was lovely.

The staff, aside from Charlie (bar staff) i found very stale and there were a few odd occurrences. my boyfriend had organised a surprise for me and called ahead to ask if something special could be organised, no help. On the last evening of our stay we were laughing and joking in our room, like any young couple in love, no music or anything, literally laughing, to then get a knock on the door from a member of staff to tell us to be quiet because there had been a complaint from the room opposite...is was 00:15, found this really odd, if we were up partying then understandable! On the morning of departure, we thought check out was 12pm, however we got a knock from housekeeping, when we answered we were told it was 11, we apologised and said we'd get ready asap. So we got ready etc, to then receive another knock from management plus "back up" to ask if there was some sort of problem?! i said to her that we made an honest mistake but had told housekeeping the situation. Most of all these issues could be sorted if there was a phone in the room! Which also causes issues as a guest, because if you have a problem, you have to go all the way to reception or call from your phone and the calls dont always get answered. another issue, the volume of the tv is set to 20 maximum, for two people who have hearing issues, this wasn't great for us. Also no option for netflix etc which in this day and age is pretty cr*p. lastly, upon check out, we were met by two sad looking reception staff who didnt ask how are stay was or anything. I will be staying un Harrogate regularly but ill avoid this hotel unless i have no other option.

Miserable hotel

Nothing was good, one lift out leaving one which had a max two people, room was dingy and not clean, bed was lop sided and uncomfortable, the bathroom had not one shelf to put things on the room was draughty and cold. The breakfast ran out of fried eggs at 8;30am and it took 15mins to get some rather dry scrambled eggs, the bar was packed every night with non residents so could not get a seat. All in all a really poor hotel

Fantastic hotel, great food and staff, poor bed!

Clean and looked fantastic with Christmas Decorations up. Pickled Sprout restaurant was fantastic, breakfast excellent

The bed was terrible, classed as a double bed, but was 2 singles zipped together, very uncomfortable and we Didnt sleep very well

Intolerable, horrifying horrendous. Dangerous, unsafe, extremely uncomfortable. No safety & privacy.

It was absolutely horrendous and horrible! The worst place and stay I ever have! Please take note and be really careful and cautious because this morning my room was intruded by a stranger. I didnt even know how other card key can access to my room and even if it was the room cleaner, my check out timing was still 2hrs away. I have not even checked out and thats not the main point. No one should be allowed to nor supposed to access into your room anytime of your stay! It is absolutely dangerous, unsafe and completely intolerable, unacceptable and unreasonable! Incredibly ridiculous. Immediately I grabbed my things and went to check out and to inform this matter to the receptionist because this is serious matter of ones privacy and safety! To TAKE EXTRA CAUTION and SERIOUS ACTION about it, yet, they were completely indifference. No attending to you at all nor do they even bother. Their attitude was really bad and they just briefly passed the matter and diverted to other topic.

Room was very cold, had to ask for an electric heater as the windows woudn't shut properly and letting lots of wind in. Still had to sleep in my jumper. The staff member looked un interested and said people have moaned before about it

Pretty place needs some work.

Perfect location. Bar and restaurant connected beautiful and friendly staff.

No phone in room to ring Down. Pillow in room dirty. Put on top of wardrobe. Asked for some flute glasses and ice bucket but wouldnt give us due to bar being separate however shouldve still had at least some glasses belonging to hotel as its meant to be 4 stars. Had to Use mouthwash glasses in room for champagne. Big bed was just 2 singles pushed together. Tv wouldnt go past 20 volume which was rly quiet. Guest above us was extremely loud all night sounded like they were moving furniture.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous location

Could hear noise from outside all night , mattress uncomfortable Didnt sleep well at all , in fact we checked out just after 6:30am Was disappointed with the room as we had a lovely room on a previous stay and a comfy bed
