The staff , the few that there were, were very helpful.

We were not advised that the hotel had been taken over and the chef had quit the day before. There were 2 events on so all staff were busy and we were out in the courtyard. We had paid for dinner but the choice was pathetic. Luckily one of the staff managed to get us some vegetables from the carvery event . Not the best experience.

Terribly disappointing. Perfect location for travelling north on A1 but won't be staying there again

Perfect room (same one as last year). Friendly staff but one person is not enough to run reception, bar and restaurant at the same time.

Unlike last year's perfect dinner, dinner in the restaurant this year was appalling. Chicken, sage and onion pie was inedible. Sage and onion stuffing with about 3 dry pieces of chicken stuffed into thick, heavy pastry. The mashed potato was grey and lumpy (kitchen had run out of chips at 6.30pm!!!) and the sprouts and carrots were virtually uncooked. To add insult to injury the spiced apple crumble was in the same thick pastry base, the apple was brown and rubbery and the crumble had solidified on top. Someone said the restaurant was under new ownership, what a shame!!

Superb

Great location, excellent staff and better value than many of the Nationwide chains.

This hotel is in a perfect location, just on the edge of Peterborough right off the A1 (north). The rooms are very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and accommodating. Despite its location, there was no noise to disturb your sleep. The dining room also serves excellent food. We will definitely be returning.

Unfortunately, the mattresses have gone well past their sell by date and could really do with replacing!! Nothing fancy is needed, but unfortunately I could feel every spring in the bed.

Very good

Overall value for money. Four poster a bit shaky. Courtyards need some work.

Breakfast was as I ordered. Location, coming from the north, the U turn across the A1 was a little hairy. The restaurant was more than adequate. Carpet tables and such were excellent. The only two members of staff I saw, was one that seemed to be doing everything. Which was first class and the Chef.

No complaints as such. The buildings are from about the mid 15 century. You cant expect perfection.

Superb

food was good, hot and the right size portions

dinner - service was a bit chaotic - only one member of staff to do everything; eg. check guests in, serve at bar, wait on tables, etc. However, that member of staff was very energetic, friendly, cheerful and full of beans. whatever she was on, I want some!

Very good

Dog friendly. Nice room on the courtyard. Most of the staff were very friendly.

The breakfast was a bit hit and miss. First day buffet was good value for money. The breakfast to order was very lacking. Only one piece of bacon sausage and four small mushrooms in the full English!!!!
