The location was amazing: the views across Derwent water and the fells are unsurpassed. The staff throughout the hotel were all very friendly and attentive, thank you. The whole hotel was clean and we had excellent breakfasts on the two mornings of our stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the conservatory watching great- and blue-tits feed in the grounds, and the occasional woodpecker visit!
It was a bit hot in the hotel overall. We wondered whether this was just us, perhaps? I don't think so. We saw other "older" guests (who, we assumed, were more tolerant of warm temperatures than us) taking off two layers of clothes just to sit in the bar in the evening. The only unexpected part of our stay, staff-wise, was when our room started having work conducted upon it (window railings removed) while we were still in it. We acknowledge that this was within the last hour of hour stay within the room, but still, parts of our room were being dismantled while were still in it!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location, very traditional, warm and different areas for dogs, impressed and would go again,
Beautiful location, very friendly staff, warm, separate areas for dogs and very dog friendly
Some areas werent very clean, towels were quite small

Overall we had a lovely family time together.
The dinner was amazing , there was 6 of us and we all had different meals and they were all supperb.
The breakfast , I ordered the poached eggs on toast but the bread wasnt toasted and it was soggy from the water off the poached eggs .

Lovely pre-Christmas stay
Very friendly staff, lovely dog friendly hotel. Great menu and lovely restaurant area.
Bathrooms could do with some love - new sealant and floor grout.

Room was a bit dated decor wise. Appreciate we had a dog friendly room but still a bit dated.
