Poor

Location only that.

Didnt like anything tbh. Found the hotel to be very outdated and over priced. Staff very slow. Piping from the toilet made loads of noise. Bed very small and uncomfortable

Exceptional

Perfect stay,

I arrived stressed and rather dishevelled, on my way to see my sister who was terminally ill. The staff could not have been nicer, nothing was too much trouble, including sending up dressings for my bleeding elbow from a fall earlier in the day. Breakfast was superb, my brother in law was a farmer so I ordered the lambs kidneys - cooked exquisitely.

Maybe an easy, marked route from the car park to reception?

Very relaxing, beautiful surroundings and good food.

A good selection but would have liked pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup on the menu. Otherwise all nicely cooked and even had Marmite!

The fact that some men were without jackets and in one instance, wearing jeans in the restaurant! Appreciate it is difficult to control but staying at a quality hotel one would think they would know better. Also we had to relocate from a seating area when a large noisy group arrived. Surely they should have booked a private room?

Disappointing

A rather unexpected and negative experience.

I liked the welcome hospitality at my late check in. The room was tastefully decorated and very relaxing.

Unfortunately the breakfast ambience was very disappointing. Regular overpowering conversations from within the kitchen. and very much left to own devices whereby nothing was ever cleared from the table during service. I unfortunately left my room key in the room. The receptionist was unable to contact the porter, I therefore proceeded to breakfast and said we will deal with the room key after breakfast. Whilst at breakfast , the guy on reception allowed the porter to access my room.. Confidential and personal items, including my wallet/ debit cards and medications were readily available on show in my room .. I was surprised and concerned entry to my room was made without my permission plus the do not disturb card was on display.It had been arranged for the key retrieval to be done on my return after breakfast. The experience I encountered was a total breach of confidentially for I would never allow personal effects to be readily on show if I thought entry to my room would gained. I eventually managed to see the house manager who was quite abrasive when she was told of my concerns regarding breakfast and my room key. On checkout, she had only reimbursed my breakfast without any consideration for the possible breach of security and stress I had experienced in my room. Unfortunately, some staff are unable to distinguish from right or wrong with regard to hotel management.
