Good location, comfortable room, relaxed atmosphere and brilliant receptionist

Receptionist was excellent, very welcoming and friendly. Bar meal was very nice and relaxed atmosphere. Room comfortable. Location was really handy, just a short stroll into town.

Parking is very difficult due to limited space. We were lucky that someone was leaving as we arrived. Did not see any alternative car parks close to the hotel.

The room and beds were fantastic. The bar and inside restaurant was gorgeous, and the outside Pizza restaurant and enclosed seating must be one of the most hip places in York. It was busy every night.

Lovely NYE trip. Will continue to stay at the Churchill

Excellent location with parking. Short 5 minute walk to the heart of the City. Beautiful building and tasteful decor. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Stayed here many times and always come back.

On this occasion I booked a small double. The bedroom was functional but the bathroom was a little too small. I have been in a small double before which had a more generous bathroom. Also cobwebs hanging from bathroom ceiling which I havent come to expect from the Churchill.

Mini-moon travels stop #2 -

- Decor - Comfort of bed/pillows - Size of room (free upgrade to Prince of Wales Suite) - Bar area was a nice size and had plenty of seating - Restaurant was a good size and plenty of tables - On site car park - Quick check-in - 10 minute walk in to the centre of York - Service of bar and breakfast was warm, friendly and quick - Plenty of choice for breakfast

- Very warm in the room - 15 to park per night and had to move car by 12:30pm (so you wont get 24 hours worth - we arrived at 4pm and left at 10:30am). Cheaper than NCP car parks etc but this would be great if it was included!

Lovely hotel friendly staff and good food but wouldn't stay in that room again.

The breakfast was excellent, and so were the pizzas. The staff were also very friendly.

When we arrived the receptionist was very friendly, she told us that they had a lovely room available for us but did say that it didn't have a window which we didn't mind, because she said someone else had stayed in there over Christmas and had said how lovely the room was. The room was very quirky but very small the receptionist didn't tell us how low the ceilings were either, which I thought she might have said as my husband is 6ft 2. As I mentioned she did tell us that it didn't have a window which we didn't mind but I didn't realise how hot it would make the room, we thought the heating was on but checked the radiators and it wasn't, so this made us feel quite uncomfortable. The room was nice but also quite dark and unfortunately not for us.
