This was a stopover between Tavistock & Richmond. Bar meal was good if a little pricey.
Room was clean with good shower. Nice toiletries. Good hospitality tray
The room was far too hot - difficult to see how to adjust radiator & opening window made it noisy. Not only affects sleep quality but is wasteful. Similar comment about shower temperature - too hot.

Great stay at Bear
Always a feeling of luxury in a room at The Bear. Stayed in dog friendly annexe 'Country House'. Very comfortable bed and good quality bed linen and towels. Really enjoyed open fire in bar settled in with dogs and good book.
It was all good. Weather atrocious, obvs not hotel's fault

Location was wonderful, main building was fantastic but the rooms were not value for money compared to other local hotel
Beautiful location and main building.
The rooms in the Old Lodge were functional and lacked any character.

Wonderful, comfortable stay. We stay at the Bear often for this reason
Excellent evening menu and super friendly staff. The glamorous, blonde lady in particular was absolutely lovely!

No effort was made for me to check in early. I was left to wait 3.5 hours at reception.

Convenient and an easy, relaxing place to stay even though there was a wedding on.
Evening meal was particularly good. Kitchen were able to adapt to my request for no chilli or onion in the avocado at breakfast.
Room and shower room were small but well appointed. Duvet was synthetic and therefore caused my husband to get too hot overnight.

This was our third stay. The hotel is warm, friendly and comfortable. Will book again in 2024.
Friendly welcome at reception. Room was exactly as expected. Breakfast is always very good.
