Reviewers Mention About Rivora Heights

Rivora Heights offers a commendable experience with good value for money and a courteous reception staff. The restaurant's cuisine is delightful, although the waitstaff may be inexperienced. Wine is (Read More)not available during dinner, which is disappointing. The view of Kandy is breathtaking and the scenery is amazing. The food is delicious but expensive. The hotel provides a car park and the staff is kind and helpful. However, there was noise and some issues with water bottles and bathroom amenities. Overall, with improvements in service, it has the potential to be a sought-after destination.

A nice place to stop over in Kandy
The rooms are clean and functional. The balcony was nice. The view from the restaurant was stunning and the staff were really lovely.
It was a little out of town which we liked but others may want something more central.

Despite the mentioned difficulties, I can imagine that the management is interested in addressing these issues, so I sti
The hotel, according to the reception, was opened in February 2023 and is modern and tastefully decorated with high-quality wooden furniture from Sri Lanka. The small pool is certainly suitable for children to cool off in good weather, although we didn't use it in December due to a lot of rain. The room is equipped with a large, very comfortable bed. Chairs and a table are available on the balcony. It takes several minutes for warm water to come out of the shower, but the bathroom is high-quality and tastefully modern furnished. Occasionally, there was a bad smell from the toilet drain, possibly due to the heavy rain. The hotel is relatively quiet, situated on a hill with a magnificent view of the lake and the old town. It's reachable by a steep footpath next to the Prince of Wales Park in about 15 minutes on foot. The road is partly busy and not entirely suitable for walking, so caution is advised. For transportation by tuk-tuk from Queens Hotel to the hotel, expect to pay between 300-600 Rs., depending on weather, traffic, and negotiation skills. The restaurant mainly caters to Western tastes with comparatively moderate prices (we spent 4000 Rs. per lunch/dinner for 2). The few Sri Lankan dishes were delicious, although the taste varied daily, possibly depending on the chef in charge or their mood, as some days Daal and Biriyani were unfortunately oversalted. The Biriyani for lunch and at our day of arrival and the Daal for breakfast after the first night was outstanding but the taste was never reached again.
Overall, the young hotel has great potential. However, there's a need to significantly improve communication and coordination among staff (restaurant, reception, housekeeping, management), as our requests, room service information, or dietary requirements were usually not passed on. This might sometimes be due to the staff's English proficiency. It's also necessary to inform guests in advance about renovation or repair works and to at least apologize for ongoing noise disturbances. Additionally, I strongly recommend that if the hotel aims to attract a Western/international clientele, it should treat them in a more open-minded and neutral manner, avoiding many questions or assumptions about their family status. This advice extends to the management as well. The reception assists in organizing transportation (car, Tuktuk, Train).

Great location and the rooms are clean. Tastefully decorated.
Hot water was a nightmare we had to change rooms . It was either ice cold or boiling hot. Had to complain for a while before they even had a look at it. And water temperature having issues when the room below uses the hot water isn't really a valid excuse. And unfortunately there was mold in the room we moved to .

Great stay in Kandy, very close to the city center
Amazing staff - always smiling, accommodating and responsive. They are also very helpful ! Good breakfast that was made just for us when there was not many people in the hotel and became a buffet on our last day as more people checked in.
The temperature of the water in the shower is difficult to adjust. The fan in our room was not there, I guess it was broken.

Fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of Kandy
Front desk was so lovely, and everyone was extremely helpful and kind. Rooms were clean, smelled wonderful, and had all the necessary tools to have a great nights rest (strong AC, blackout curtains, comfortable bed, large room, and wonderful bathrooms).
Wish I could have stayed longer
