Exceptional

Great location for visiting Shrewsbury

Excellent friendly staff and a warm welcome on arrival. Comfortable well appointed room. There is a small lift all floors. Breakfast was excellent. Heard staff go over and above in helping guests queries and this was great to hear on point as it provided real quality customer service. The car park is hard to find via narrow streets but it IS do-able and once parked it was only a few minutes walk back to the hotel. Also within easy walk from the Railway station.

NOTE The fire alarm went off at midnight on night 1 and upon evacuation, no checks were made using a fire register and no fire service came automatically. The night porter said there had been a fault on the system and he had turned the alarm off and reset the system. This was a worrying especially as no fire register was taken for a 70 room hotel and no actual rooms were therefore checked !! Did not feel at all reassured by that and hardly slept because of it incase it went off again.

The most beautiful original styled room we have ever stayed in.

The Prince Rupert Suite was absolutely beautiful. We will definitely try to book the same room again, (I believe it is the best room in the house). The staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. My favourite part is that it is original floors and walls which means the floor is uneven and authentic for its age. Amazing.

The staff are always friendly. The location and comfort of the room

The plug got stuck in the bath after my daughter had her bath and we had to call room service. They came very quickly and fixed it but the problem happened again so I was unable to have a bath. The vegetarian option for the full English was not available.

Pleasant hotel, good location and excellent included breakfast

Excellent location for city centre visit. Because of the historical nature of the city, parking is some distance away so it's not the best location to use as a base to see the wider area.

If I had been staying for more than 1 night I wouldn't have been happy to pay 10 a night to park until 11.30am and then 3/hour afterwards - but maybe that's only on the day of departure
