The Peninsula Island Resort & Spa is a clean and modern beachfront property at South Padre Island. The staff is friendly and the huge pool, with a separate section and heated option, is enjoyable. Th (Read More)e resort also offers a jacuzzi and beach access. One reviewer mentions that the elevator may look old, but overall, the experience is great. The location is beautiful with stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico. The resort also has a full spa, making it highly recommended for a visit to South Texas.

Exceptional

Booking.com did not advertize the property as they should have but the hotel made it right. Exceptional service from the manager to make sure we were comfortable after the disappointment with Booking.com.

Disappointing

I was really disappointed about the property. My fianc and I arrived at the facility on a Thursday, we were already notified through booking.com that there main pool wouldnt be available, but not to worry because there second pool would be open. For the four days of our stay both pool were unavailable, and blocked off with yellow tape our whole stay.

Stay away from this location, old and dirty pool is closed renovation they never mentioned on Booking.com

Nothing just the weather to be honest

Weird people walking around. I dont think its safe for family. They look like illegal immigrants. Very smelly rooms fridge not working washer not working dryer very dirty in the second floor manager very rude. I was worried bout bugs bed at night. When I complained the manager didnt offer anything.

Pool closed and no prior notice before booking, restaurant waiter Sandra incredibly rude, restaurant was out of vegetables, restaurant closed at 2:00 p.m. sorry no Pina Colada for me. PAY EXTRA if you want a chair and lounger at the beach, $40 to be exact. That is the reason I booked a beach front hotel...

We had a wonderful time until the end. When I check my account they had taken a significant amount of money out because they said we took items out of the charge basket in the room. When I called they said we removed alcohol items and candy item. We don't drink alcohol. I know we absolutely didn't. Also we brought our own favorite candy. They said they would take care of it but didn't. After several calls they quit answering. Just a scam to get more money out of you. I told tem if it was missing they needed to check with their cleaning crew. Very unethical.

Would not stay here again. The price didnt match the resort experience.

The pool and hot tub are under heavy maintenance and no notice is provided on the website or at the time of booking that these were not available to guests. You can also hear the workers on the pool chiseling the concrete/scraping the drained pool floor. Also, restaurant was closed. No microwave in the room. All hotels and resorts seem to offer this. Parking lot was nearly vacant the first 2 nights and it was very concerning to have to park so far away from the building and the security gates were left open all night. The snacks in the room come off as a complete tease. Who wouldnt want a candy or snack??? But at $4 and $5 dollars eachif anything, those snacks should have been complimentary to make up for the lack of amenities/services not available!

Disappointing

There are better places to stay.

The location. The front desk attendants were friendly. No issues with staff. The gym was surprisingly decent. The beach access was nice as well.

The WiFi was un-connectable. The rooms had a smell to them. Even with air freshener in the rooms already. The cable went out throughout the night and never came back on during the stay. The snacks are obviously over priced as well as the liquor. 10$ for a shooter. I get the reason but still and Some of the snacks are expired. The door had to be lifted and pushed in order to lock it. The safe didnt work. Pool is under renovations. The restaurant closes at 11am apparently. The elevator the following morning was out of order.
