Brilliant stay, will return!

The location of the hotel was perfect for walking into the City centre for shopping, sightseeing and visiting the theatre. The surprise of the pantry was very well received by my 11 year old!

The walls are pretty thin and due to being in the room nearest to the pantry you rely on other guests being respectful of their noise levels when getting their treats, slamming doors etc.

Fabulous Stay. York is Beautiful and we are looking forward to trying other hotels from your group.

Check in was nice and easy and our baggage being picked up from the Station was such a great idea. It was lovely to have messages before we turned up regarding bedding and luggage and any questions regarding local pubs etc were answered with ease. Our room was Lovely, could do with a set a drawers next to the wardrobe for underwear etc. to save living out of our suitcase for 4 nights. Breakfast was lovely and the staff at Breakfast were Superb. What a Wonderful bunch of people you have, they made our time at the hotel very enjoyable.

Our only constructive criticism would be that a set of drawers are needed in the room and maybe the heating should have been turned up for our arrival as the room was chilly for the first couple of days.

Fabulous hotel with amazing staff. Highly reccomend.

We loved this place. Gorgeous hotel with amazing staff! Loved the decor & the restaurant was fabulous. Great value for money it felt like a 5 star treatment the whole time we were there. Location is walking distance to the centre of York. We also had treatments in the spa which I highly recommend.

We stayed with our dog and it was perfect. They brought up a bed, treats and a bowl for him, the staff were lovely, the spa is amazing, rooms are perfect & location is 10 min walk from the centre!

Massively Overrated

Positives were the lovely decor of the Marmalade room, Christmas decorations, and free fizz when half filled cups were left in the room.

This hotel gets incredible reviews so here is some balance: 1) Some of rooms are literally behind the restaurant. Meaning you have to walk through a busy restaurant to even leave your room. Also music plays till around 10.30pm meaning early nights are almost impossible. 2) Breakfast is according to strict, limited slots, no flexibility. We arrived 20 minutes after a 9.45am slot (due to less sleep from music and street noise) and were told breakfast was done for the day in order to serve lunch (no one was there at that time of course). No kindness or flexibility, or warning about breakfast finishing by 10 (indeed we were offered a 10.30am slot on a different day, so had no idea it 'finished by 10'). So before a long drive back we had no food and were almost denied a coffee before insisting. 3) The breaksfasts, when we did get them, were generally overcooked. Super hard bread, croissants, toast, etc. 4) Parking is 20/night, not included. Go for Filey Terrace residential street nearby to avoid this charge. 5) Check-in is also inflexible, unlike anywhere else we have stayed, the 3pm is a literal early limit for arriving.
