Very good

We really enjoyed our night staying at the Mermaid Inn and would definitely recommend it to others!

Really characterful hotel, cosy room and a comfortable bed. Tasty breakfast and helpful staff. Beautiful and convenient location for exploring Rye. The big fire in the bar area is lovely and the ghosts were all very welcoming!

The shower in our room was only really useful for hobbits as the bath shower head was positioned under the slope of the roof so you had to sit down to shower...fine if you wanted a bath though. Also the fish finger sandwiches we ordered at the bar in the evening were a kind of a bizarre combination of ingredients. Other than that, there was nothing we didn't like.

Historical experience

The atmosphere was gorgeous. Facilty was modern and easy to use. Also, the staff were very friendly and gave us a hand for our luggage.

Just be careful if you have difficulty in walking up and down the stairs. Better mention beforehand.

The location was great. The actual hotel was lovely.

No available seats in the bar, small lounge or big lounge area. Unfortunately it stated only residents of the Mermaid to seat in the lounge, but there was a large party of people seated on the small lounge who i heard clearly saying that they weren't saying at the Mermaid, but they often pop in.

A beautiful hotel, bar and restaurant in the centre of old Rye.

A beautiful old building with huge character. Welcolming staff and EV chargers you can reserve. Our room was lovely with slopping floors, creaky floor boards and even a very old four poster bed. Breakfast was very good and served in the restaurant. Location is on an old and narrow cobbled street right in the centre of the old town.

Not really a negative. This is an old building so there are limited modcons such as sound proofing to other rooms or to the outside world through the old single glazed windows. You can probably ask for a room not facing on to the road.

Fantastic ambience, location and service.

Fantastic building, very nicely maintained. The staff were universally helpful and charming. Room was very comfortable.

Two small niggles - TV reception was poor (no BBC TV or radio) and there wasn't an easily accessible power point near the bed, making phone charging difficult.

I love the mermaid inn, its history is amazing.

We paid for a superior room, as it was my partners birthday. The room itself was amazing. However, for the cost of the room have two mattresses on top of each other is NOT acceptable

Very good

Lovely hotel, with so much history. Room we were in was a little small, though we did see some huge rooms, so clearly just need to pay more! Due to age of Hotel, there is a fair bit of noise from next door rooms and corridor, but it is an amazing place. Lovely bars/lounges with fires and very good breakfast. Great staff.
