A hidden gem ... not from the sea's plastic trash and the noisy parties at night.

Plastic trash on the beach and noisy bars. To Koh Mak's bars and restaurants, a word of caution and advice: 1) your charm lies in serenity, not decibels. Those in search of nightlife have Phuket and Bangkok to go. Leave Koh Mak as a peaceful and quiet refuge. 2) you can work together and minimize the impact of the trash on the beaches. Look around and not only to your front. You will profit from that. Don't be another Bali beach.

Relaxed, cool and not too turstico experience of lovely island

The location and the overall experience. Good food, lovely environment and very friendly and helpful staff

The initial small room for 2 separate beds but which was rapidly solved by friendly staff who were able to move us to bigger room.

Charming island and peaceful resort.

Fab location right by the pier. Very peaceful. Lovely to be able to walk to the sea in a few steps. Nice to find 4 bottles of water in the fridge on arrival. We loved the Pineapple Dessert Bar. Great to have kayaks to rent. We paddled across to Ko Kham rather than pay 350 for the boat trip. Stunning birdwing butterflies on the flowers outside our bungalow.

The shower pressure was poor. No bedside table even though there was space for one. No soap provided (although other toiletries). Safe not the easiest to use. Breakfast was OK but not great. Very much about the fruit which I didn't want. Staff seemed very confused about the coffee and called everything a cappuccino. Would have been better if jugs of hot milk and coffee provided so we could do our own. (as at Klong Prao Resort). Pool looked awful so we didn't use it but sea was lovely so no great loss. Dining space was nothing special.

Very good

Paradise in a tiny corner of the island

The view is even better than on the picture and the rooms are just enough for what you need as you won't spend so much time in your room anyway. The staff is awesome, very helpful and caring. The breakfast is served from 7 to 10 am with American and Thai styles. The menu is very large too if you don't feel like hanging out. They serve cocktails on the beach and the music Playlist is quite nice too.

There is one thing I wish they had told me as I checked in though: that there were sand flies on the beach. I would have been more careful. So come prepared with some repellent spray. But apart from that, it is the perfect place to relax. I'll come back, I will for sure

Great location, but Could be a lot better with some renovation

The location right in front of the beach, literally meters away The service from staff was great

The property need serious renovation, it is very dated, both rooms and facilities The air condition isnt designed to operate in hot summer weather. The room was very hot during the daytime. The weird smell in the bathroom, probably because of the bad drainage system

Koh Mak resort is a lovely place conveniently located right by the pier which is handy when you arrive or leave or take a boat to neighbouring Koh Kham island . we have found lot of new Thai friends here who made us feel very special . the manager who calls herself Sauce is lovely and very accommodating, helpful and efficient . anything we needed , she assisted promptly and always had a smile on her face . restaurant and bar staff became practically like a family to us on the first day . my daughter took special shine to a barman called Mr Nu and followed him everywhere. he was very attentive and kind to her throughout our stay . they all were . when we were leaving , they walked us to the pier and hugged us and waved goodbye . to be honest we didnt want to leave and were so sad to leave them behind . the resort is lovely and the rooms are very spacious with plenty of storage space . plus they are right on the beautiful beach . Koh Mak Resort also has a little shop on the premises . there is an old lady called Attiya that runs it and she is like a grandma anybody would want . so sweet and always had a kind words for us and my daughter , even gave us some free gifts from her lovely shop . make sure youd pop in to say hello . we also bought few things there , she has some lovely clothes for sale :) The beach is lovely and when the tide is out you can walk to the furthest end towards Turtle Beach , just beware of stray dogs that are often moving in packs .Take a coconut or sharp rock in case they get aggressive , they usually scamper off fast when you threaten them with it and shout Pai in a loud voice ! we loved Koh Mak resort , everything about this place was amazing and we felt super welcome throughout our stay there . we would definitely be back !

Clam and clean - a place for relaxing

A calm resort with bungalows close to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff, nice and clean on the beach and the area around. From our bungalow we had about 20 metres to the beach where it was nearly no others. About 5 min with motorbikes to south side of the island if you want some more activity and restaurants.
