Disappointing

Lovely hotel - perhaps close to public when booked for weddings

Beautiful, nice food, good rooms (if a bit cold)

Its a beautiful hotel but we had been shoved into a room that suited the wedding that was happening that weekend. Thats understandable but we were then woken by rubbish trucks collecting glass outside our rooms at 6.20am which wasnt ideal. Staff seemed very preoccupied with the wedding.

Lovely place

Lovely place nice and quiet bar staff ect all very pleasant.

First was no reply on emails as I asked to have a bottle of prosecco in our room on arrival. Didn't happen.was abit disappointed Second there was two menus to choose from one for the restaurant and one for the bar/lounge. You felt a little out of place eating a full meal in the bar when people were just having a drink and chilling. Think it was because the chairs&tables were quite low. But never the less I would come again beautiful place clean all staff very friendly couldn't do enough for you and the breakfast was beautiful. Thank you for a great night.

Disappointing and underwhelming for a 'luxury, boutique hotel'

The location is good and the building is lovely. However the hotel is in need of updating, particularly the bedrooms/bathrooms.

We stayed for several nights over the Christmas period and only had dinner once in the hotel as we found it to be underwhelming with a limited menu. The continental breakfast was adequate with some fresh fruits, pastries that did not appear to be fresh and small packets of cereal, the milk urn was frequently empty. The cooked breakfasts were disappointing, the kippers were tasteless, the fried eggs and mushrooms were burnt. The toast for scrambled eggs and avocado appeared to be stale and dry. The service was very slow and several guests complained that they had waited so long they did not have time to eat their breakfast.

Beautiful old house renovated to an incredibly high standard. Lovely, generous sized rooms and a fab restaurant!

Some of the room fixtures are a little outdated. Doors are heavy and close/lock behind you, so if you forget your key when leaving youre stuck. Plug sockets for the bedside lights only take round pins, so only place to charge our phones overnight was on the writing desk on the other side of the bedroom, which was a bit inconvenient. Very small issues overall though!

In all aspects superb

It was simply fabulous very smooth check in and spacious well appointed room with bonus mince pies , we decided to have dinner in and the choice and the food and wine were all superb. The service was good prompt but not overbearing, Breakfast was well cooked and used good ingredients Next time a longer stay

Beautiful and convenient location. Lovely staff Very comfortable room.

Too hot...but I should have turned down thermostat before bed. My robe was dirty The door spring was so strong it slammed automatically with noise. Likewise the housekeeping room immediately outside #5 which woke us at 7.30
