Hotel La Tonnarella provided an amazing experience for honeymooners, with stunning views, access to a private beach, and a wonderful restaurant. Disappointing

Book elsewhere if you want to sleep well and shower!!

Views

We had no shower...hand held shower with slanting ceiling above the bathtub...I'm 5'6 and could not stand to shower...hubby used our cousin's shower in their room. I expected a shower...silly me!! No bartender to mix a drink...really wanted to have a drink on the patio. Bed and pillows hard as rocks....we spent 30 days in Italy...only bad bed was here.

Superb

Magnificent views!

Our room terrace was huge and had an expansive view of Mt. Vesuvius, the Gulf of Naples and Sorrento. The hotel was charming and beautifully situated on multi levels. Eating outdoors on the dining room terrace was lovely. Our meals were phenomenal and were impeccably served by a highly trained staff! It was a pleasure to stay there.

Wonderful 3 days and dont miss Capri!!

Beautiful view and very private rooms with full patios on some overlooking the ocean. Within walking distance of town/shopping and restaurants!! Breakfast buffet was fabulous!!

Put this hotel on your bucket list ,absolutely spectacular worth every Euro .

This is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in ,location spectacular, views from balcony( *room 3 ) were amazing greeted immediately on arrival ,bags taken to room ,Josef at reception was friendly, professional and welcoming, all the staff were excellent and friendly, had breakfast on rooftop deck just about the best view of the islands ,sea and Sorrento coastline . went in the lift to the private beach and swam in the sea ..

Fantastic for everything, except sleeping.

We loved the scenic views, the traditional colorful decor and charm of this lovely property. The staff were wonderful & helpful especially: Annalise, Luigi & Genaro. Having daily breakfast in the dining room with the breathtaking views was terrific. The outdoor spaces are really nice as well. What needs vast attention & improvement is the bed mattress. It was hard, old and very uncomfortable for the daily cost to stay here. I would also recommend buying new softer fluffier bath towels for the comfort of your guests. Doing these 2 important things would make this jewel of a hotel earn 5 stars!

Lovely location, lovely room, some suberb staff

The room was nice, with an entrance from outside and a patio that was really big. Also the view from the room was great. The elderly man in the breakfast room was great and deserves 5 stars. I wish I knew his name! Also in the lunch terrace service was friendly and good. The entrance to the so-called private beach was beautiful. Even when the beach as such was not that private, but shared with a 2-star hotel next-door - free of charge to those residents, but with a charge to us in the 4-star hotel La Tonnarella...

The private beach was shared with another hotel 'of lower quality' with a better deal for that hotel. Free of charge to the other hotel of 2 stars, with a charge to us in the '4-star hotel'. Go figure. When aiming to check out, we had to get cleaners out of the room first! They had started cleaning when we were supposed to collect our stuff and check out. Due to the hassle, our departure was delayed - which was 'ok' for the hotel, even when they had not problem acknowledging this was a mistake on their part, but without any intention to compensate for it in any way. For us this was not so much 'ok', as apart from being quite unpleasant, our plans also got re-scheduled due to this delay. When in all the hassle I accidentally then left my phone charger in the room and asked about it later, not only did they not call me back about it, they asked me to give an open-ended access to charge my credit card to whatever sum needed to send the charger to me, as 'they did not know how much it would cost' - to send it over to Naples, same country, and close by...! Only a fool would agree and give such open access to your credit card. They just were 0% helpful. I ended up just buying myself a new charger instead. Never heard back from them again. I would expect a bit more from a '4-star hotel', to be honest. I must say I was much surprised by a 4-star hotel behaving this way. In any case, as soon as we had checked out, before any charger-missing-issues, we were basically non-existent to the staff. No bag carrier to tip - no service what-so-ever. This is such a shame, as the location was beautiful, so was the room, and some of the individual members of the staff were really suberb.

The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. The room and view were perfect and very comfortable. The restaurant had some of the best food we ate in our 9 days of traveling in Italy, including being better than a Michelin restaurant we went to in Tuscany. This was better.

The view to the sea

The room #13 that was assigned to us did not meet the height requirement for a person taller than 5'3", particularly the bathroom, since it did not have a shower and the bathtub was difficult to access. Also in the case of my husband who suffers from a health condition that does not allow him to bathe in a bathtub. I took the situation to the reception but they could not resolve it until the next day. We stayed in the room since my husband's brother was in the next room and allowed him to bathe. I repeat, room #13 is for guests of short stature, who do not want to shower and who do not have limiting health conditions.
