Good location, delicious breakfast!

Decent stay, but avoid Room 1 at all costs!

The place was clean.

The staff was absurdly awful. I was in room 1 (do not ever get room 1!). It's probably given out to people they dislike. In the morning, I could smell the cigarette smoke from the very loud and obnoxious staff in the bathroom coming through the ventilation and in my room if I had the window open. The woman there was coughing so loud, I assume from all the smoking, that I could hear her constantly from as early as 5-6 am. They would sometimes leave the entrance go the hotel open and I could hear all the car traffic from the street outside, also in the morning. Who needs sleep anyway? I could hear all the weird chats the staff had in the morning through the ventilation. Even worse, I speak their language so I could even understand everything...

Good stay

The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the location was nice.

We got the suite and the bathroom was a bit small. Even though we could communicate correctly without any problem, for me it was quite surprising that the staff didn't understand english, but again no problem. I would say a bit pricey for what we got, but everything was pricey anyway

Disappointing regarding the price

The beds were ok.

The room was not perfectly clean and there was still food from the previous persons. When we told the receptionnist during our checkout, she didnt seem concerned by it. No one was here when we checked in because we arrived late, but they didnt give us the right code for the keys.

The staff couldnt speak English. I couldnt communicate with them properly, since they cant understand English. Moreover, the reception was not working in the night and I couldn't ask water or anything to my room.

Superb

Great breakfast, convenient location, comfortable rooms

Did a two-week family vacation from the US to Germany, starting with two nights in Hamburg. Hotel Boritzka is in a very convenient location, close to two metro/subway stations (Christuskirche, more or less across the street, and Schlump, just a bit further in the other direction) that got us to the harbor and other popular spots in just a few stops. There was also a grocery store and pharmacy right across the street. The rooms were good. Nothing fancy, but very clean, comfortable, and secure. Breakfast was excellent! Nice selection and everything was very tasty. There was a breakfast restaurant nearby we wanted to check out, but didn't because we didn't want to miss out on the Boritzka breakfast.

These were not problems for us, but visitors may wish to note the following: The main road, Schferkampsallee, that runs in front of the hotel can get somewhat busy and a bit loud. We had two rooms, one on the street side and another facing the rear courtyard. The courtyard room was quieter. Noise didn't keep us up all night or anything, but if you're sensitive to noise while trying to sleep, take note. The owner/manager of the hotel was very nice and friendly, but her English is minimal and my German is more or less nonexistent. We had zero issues, so this was not a problem, but if you have complicated requirements during your stay that you need to explain, be prepared.

Superb

location is perfect, right by the metro station, walking distqnce to the center, walking dostance to the river and st pauli. very nice and welcoming staff, though the initial communication was a bit slow and at least some german is required. i liked the room at the top floor and cute steep stairs. i definitely recommend the place and wouldn't hesitate to come back

bit small bathroom could have a bit better ventilation and still, while using the facilities you can hear the neighbours talking. but well, it is a part of the colorit, no real complaints about it.
