Cozy and Comfortable Cabins

Fernwood was nestled perfectly next to Pfeiffer state park and had everything you could possibly need to have a wonderful experience in the woods of Big Sur. The cabins were very cozy and plenty of space, theres a great restaurant and bar on site and the general store is great for all the last minute items you might need while on a trip. Oh and there was the cutest and fattest cat that keeps you company on the back patio!

This place was advertised as a resort. It was a modest motel. I had to go a couple miles down the road to get a cup of tea in the morning.

Superb

Would definitely stay here again!! Great find right off of Highway 1

We were assigned room "G" which was a corner room of the resort/hotel. It had 2 beds with a gas stove, with one of the beds in a separate room. The bar was fun with board games and good music.

Had a musty smell upon entering the room, but went away after aerating out the room. Food was ok, as we had the fish tacos, but the fish was too fishy to my liking. Loved the truffle fries.

Exceptional

Dont drive, stay and play.

It was way more than I expected. I loved everything about it and I do mean everything. I do plan to return as soon as possible. Not sure why anyone would pay $1500 for a night stay at neighboring hotels when this one has everything at your fingertips and I do mean everything. We are two African-American women traveling alone, and unfortunately our fellow nature lovers arent always friendly to us, but we had NO problems with Fernwood Resort. We didnt even mind there was no television! May God bless them and their businesses!

The only thing I didnt like, was seeing How the river was almost dry. It is so sad to see and Im excited the rain came when we got there. Nothing bad to say about Fernwood, wait I almost forgot the power plugs are kind of scary as we got sparks when we went to plug-in our cell phones, but we just decided to charge them in the car for safety reasons.

Superb

Beautiful spot in Big Sur

Everything was great. We loved the room, location and the restaurant food! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was a grocery store open till 10pm with almost everything you need.

The hot tub does not have a lid so there used to be leaves fallen in it all the time and it took us really long to clean it every time before using it.

Very good

Excellent place, great location

The location was brilliant with a lot of parking places. The staff were very kind and accommodating even though we arrived after 9pm (they close at 9 in the winter season, which we didnt know). Equally, the restaurant was closed but they still offered us pizza, which was brilliant. We also had a hot tub on our patio and it was really nice to be in the hot tub mid-December surrounded by the tall trees that enhanced the Christmassy feel. Im really glad I booked this place.

It would maybe be useful to know that the restaurant and check-in close at 9pm during winter season. But it all worked out great for us regardless, so all good!
